Brand new course in Cameron Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 12, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has nice fake-grass tee-pads that are flat, firm and level. Excellent signage and bag hooks. Many holes are on the short side of things, but there are a couple longer ones toward the end. Nice variety of shots required. This course is more for those who like more technical challenges as compared to long distances. I'd call it a "finesse" course.

I will normally shoot a +5 over par on most area courses, but I shot +1 here on my first round, so I found it a bit on the easier side. Overall, very enjoyable.

Cons:

It looks like a lot of poison oak was removed, but it is quickly growing back. There was a ton of 2" poison oak growth all over the place. As it grows, so will the problem.

As people use the course, the trails should get better. Right now the ground is pretty unforgiving in places if you are not watching your footwork carefully. I slightly rolled my ankle on one "fairway."

There are a lot of tees and baskets placed into a pretty small area. I can tell that lots of thought had to go into the layout. I played mid-week when it was pretty empty. Might get a little crazy on a busy day, with some tight placements of throwing lanes.

Other Thoughts:

I want to thank the volunteers who provided funding, physical work, planning and advocating efforts that make this new course possible. We owe you greatly for what you have created for all of us to enjoy!
