Pros:
For lacking so much in amenities, several holes are still decent quality. Tunnel shots on 3 and 7, 6 tucked behind a big evergreen, 5's shape is a really tough birdie.
Just by looking at the design of the basket you can tell you're going to need to put a little more juice on your putt. I didn't have any issues with these and found it kind of interesting to use some baskets that weren't professional level.
A few of the greens have a little danger, 2 is on a little rise in the ground, and 6 has some brush right behind it that is just thin enough to get a missed putt to go into, but is impossible to get out of accurately.
Aside from a few spots, navigation is a breeze.
If you were camping at the park, you could start the course at hole 1, 2, 5, or 6 depending on where you were coming from, and then end your round right at the same spot.
Cons:
The obvious ones: no tee pads or tee areas, no signage, no signs pointing you to the course, etc, etc...
Some of these holes are insanely short. 1, 8, and 9 are all in the 150-175 range and are also fairly open and bland.
Poor spots of navigation:
- At hole 1 (basket 9) you can see 2 baskets (1 and 8, obviously). Problem is, you can't tell which you're supposed to throw to as both number plates on top are facing away from you. (It's the one to the left, btw)
- At hole 2 you can see the baskets of both 2 and 4. Number plates are once again hard to see, but if you're short enough to see under the branches, you can see that 2 is the one on the right.
Hole 4 would take an insane amount of luck to get to the green in one. Too many trees in the way.
Leaves build up in the baskets since they are solid... plastic/rubber?
Other Thoughts:
It seems that the course is only officially open when the camp manager is there. I just parked by the gate and walked the 1000 feet to the course.
Your disc makes a nice thump when it falls into the basket.
Overall, this isn't a great course. It holds some fun holes, but I personally wouldn't pay to play here when 44% of the holes are just dead boring.
