As simpe as two baskets in an open field can be

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 1, 2022 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Chantilly Park has two baskets in a field.
- Nothing memorable here. You can practice putting and short approach shots.
- The park has a trail and a playground. Kids can play while you putt.
- Baskets are in decent shape.
- One thinks one of the neighbor's wanted their own practice baskets for putting but didn't want to pay for them themself. So, have the city pay for them instead.

Cons:

The park is at the end of a dead end road. To get to it, you're parking in front of houses. To leave, you're either having to back into someone's driveway, or do a three point turn on a narrow road. Good luck if someone parks right on your tail and/or on the other side of the street.
- There aren't tees or any sort of marking. It's truly a practice area.
- You can putt back and forth from one to the other. You're topping out at 250 feet safely if you're throwing here.
- Don't go long or right on the one closer to creek. Who knows what's in there? More important, why is a basket that close to this area? You're not going to throw putts or approach shots. Who wants to be retrieving shots from mud/swampy areas during a practice outing?

Other Thoughts:

Chantilly is perfectly unmemorable. I'm giving it a 2.5 rating simply because it's my belief that practice areas shouldn't be rated. And giving it the 0 (or 0.5) it deserves serves zero purpose.
- UDisc has two hole lengths listed. Someone(s) even went so far to create course maps for this. Sure....there is a course here (sarcasm font).
- The playground is in great shape. That's the highlight of this 'park.' It's really meant for people within walking distance. If not, why not at least put a cul-de-sac at the end of the road and make this more accessible for cars?
- Unless you live within walking distance, it's pointless to visit here. Especially now that Veterans Park is reopened, you're even going to get better practice work done there too.
- Go ahead and bag this one. Throw a couple putts from 50 feet away and say you 'played' this course.

Pros:

+ Two baskets and a wide open field. Set up your own safari course, practice drives, and practice putting.
+ Beach volleyball court and playground also there.

Cons:

- Not a great area. You have to park on a neighborhood street. Lots of construction going on around the park. The park itself is run down.
- Nothing much to it: just 2 baskets and a field with a few trees near the pins.

Other Thoughts:

Don't travel here unless you're in the area anyway and will bag anything (like me). If you live near downtown Charlotte, this is a perfectly adequate practice area.
