Pros:
-nice discatchers
-yellows posts at each tee
-a bit of elevation in play
-mature trees provide a few obstacles and low ceilings
-two baskets per hole
-navigation is pretty simple once you see the first tee
Cons:
-really only 5 holes
-pitch & putt on 4 of 5 holes
-not sure an extra 5 baskets is really the best use of resources for such a small recreational course but i'm sure the local players enjoy it
-multiple use park, lots of pedestrians
Other Thoughts:
It is cool to see a course in a small community without another legit course in the area. In that regard the course serves its purpose to fill the gap but there isn't really a whole lot going for Chaparral Park.
The park is small and is shared with pedestrians and sports field users. Hopefully there are no conflicts, it would be a shame if a course like this intending to introduce the sport to the community ended up giving disc golf a bad name around here. There is some minor elevation in play with a nice uphill drive from the first tee and and slight downhill on tees 3 and 4. The second set of baskets are all just about 30-60 further than the first set, the shots are still the same.
I would be happy to have a place to throw at baskets if I lived nearby this park but there's no reason to seek it out. Course baggers and close locals only.
