The Disc Golf Course Of The Latter Day Saints Is Suffering From Some Neglect! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 28, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course at the LDS in Nevada City starts out behind the church just north of their picnic area. The baskets are single chain models and the tee pads are rubber mats. There are small tee pads at each basket. Navigation is fairly simple with most pads close to the previous basket. The course is either your basic pitch and putt or at the very hardest, an easy rec course.

The first three holes play down into the woods sometimes with a simple hyser down the old road. # 4 tee pad, up the hill above the right field line, has you throwing over the softball field to a basket set in foul territory past the left field line. Unfortunately, this basket has been broke completely in half so only the basket catcher is left, no chains.

The # 5 basket is missing, I think. It plays uphill on a path with the freeway on your right and woods on your left. The hole is too difficult for this course and very much out of place. Holes 6-9 then play down into and then up through the woods with the # 9 basket up the hill by the picnic area.

Cons:

# 4 basket broke in half.

Couldn't find # 5 basket.

# 5 is just a poorly designed hole.

Other Thoughts:

This is kind of a decent little church rec course. I'm sure it was designed for the church youth and families to play and other then the silly up-the-hill # 5 hole, it fills that bill rather nicely. It's probably a big rugged for some members (it takes a little mountain goat like agility to get down to the # 4 tee

Nice beginner/intermediate player course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course starts just north of the outdoor picnic area at the back of the church property. The course is laid out in a counter clock fashion. The tee pad for hole 4 is below the basket and across the wide trail from basket 3. From each basket, you can spot the next tee pad sign.

Tee pad signs are easy to spot and the tee pads are rubber mats.

Baskets are panted orange on the top and the baskets making them easy to spot.

Course is great for beginner and challenging for an intermediate player.

Great use of the property with changes in elevation and terrain.

Restrooms are outhouses.

Cons:

The basket chains are single strand, so you better be spot on when you make a basket. I had a disc spit out that cost me par.

Other Thoughts:

I played this course on a Friday morning. I can't speak to how the traffic on the course would be at any other time. On the day I played, the church was setting up for a Boy Scout Day Camp which would have prevented play if the camp was in session.
