Pros:
+ Brand new tees signs for every hole.
+ New baskets on the front 9.
+ Next tee bricks showing where to go after each hole. Navigation is effortless.
+ Lots of shade, especially on the front 9.
+ Good variety of lines. Holes range from roughly 200-400', though there's much more short holes than long. Mix of left and right turns, some holes more wooded some more open, some with low ceilings and some with no ceiling. The course did a good job of never feeling too repetitive.
+ Well maintained park. Very clean, freshly mowed, etc. There was one large downed tree branch near one holes basket, otherwise the course was pretty much immaculate.
Cons:
- Back 9 has older, more shallow baskets.
- Very little elevation in play. It is Texas.
- 17's basket was missing when I played.
- First few holes play next to a fence bordering private yards, one of which has a couple of large, aggressive dogs. Gotta play safe lines and avoid throwing into those yards or getting a disc back would be tricky.
- Back 9 plays next to a road that had moderate traffic. Front 9 was more peaceful.
- Only one par 4. Most holes a little under 300'. Not as challenging as I care for. The difficulty level should appeal to most disc golfers though.
Other Thoughts:
Reading old reviews this park has improved a lot over the years. Seems it used to be a 9 hole and was redesigned. Also got some fresh tee signs since the first review.
This course and Cornerstone Church are the best ones I've played in the Lake Jackson, TX area. Milby and Dunbar weren't quite as good from what I remember (been a few years since I played them.)
If you're looking for a good 18 hole course in the area, definitely add this one to your list. Unless you need a bunch of long bomber holes to enjoy your round, you'll have fun here.
