Addition to Main Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Loop 1 9 hole course is more or less just an extra add on to your round at the main course . It is a fast play and there are fewer people playing this side .The tees are cement and hold well , the baskets are Innovas that catch well , but the signs are really lacking .A course map on the internet would be nice , too . It takes place within the roads opposite of the Main course . The only tie you venture out of that is to cross the road at I think #9 to tee off ( 8 or 9 ) . It plays pretty tight until the last few holes but still has creative lines for you to throw to . I think after #3 a downhill 320' drive , turn left to go to the next tee even though there is a path that leads you to the lower end of the park . Just remember that the loop 1 9 holer is walled in by 3 different roads and you step out of it briefly for 1 drive at the end . I should have made a crude map while I was playing and posted it later . The course lacks the same amenities as the Main one , but it is not as crowded and you can play it by yourself in 30 minutes . Signature hole: Nothing jumped out of me on this course but I did like the downhill drive on #3 ( 320' ) which if you overthrow or throw to the right , you will go off an embankment

Cons:

Signage was terrible . This is a disc golf mecca in Jonesboro , so the tee signs + a Next Tee sign in a couple of places would help this course out a lot . Also , the bugs and the mosquito are as bad over on this side of the road as they are on Loop 1 . Lather up with some bug spray , even putting some under your shirt . They found their way under mine and I got a couple of good bites . Hole distances on go up to 335' and you never get to unleash a drive .

Other Thoughts:

A good add on for players that don't want the day to end , so they wander across the road for 9 more holes . It does what it is intended to do , give you a lot of tight line disc golf . I enjoyed the extra 9 . I wouldn't imagine that you would drive into Craighead Forest to play this 9 across the road ( I would play either 1-9 or 10-18 on the Main ) , but there were a couple of other groups playing this course while I was there . You shouldn't be bothered by by any of the campers or park goers because the course is sectioned away from them . My Recommendation : Play the Main Course for sure , and If you have a spare amount of time , play this side , too . 27 holes right next to each other . Disc golf at its best .
