Pros:

Crooked Creek crossing was an...um...interesting course. One of the shorter 18 hole courses I've played in some time. To date even.

The tee pads are conrete. Nice sized and well done. You don't need a crazy long run up for any of these holes so these work just fine. One tee per hole. Definitely appreciated these on some of the swampier holes where natural tees would really just be a mud hole.

The baskets are Innova Discatchers. These were all in good condition and caught fine. Always appreciate the yellow bands on these for locating them, though that's less of pro here since most of these holes are very short. One basket and basket location per hole.

The course plays mostly wooded with a few breaks from the trees interspersed throughout. The flow of the course isn't the easiest to follow but not even close to the worst I've seen. A map would be recommended though. Just remember that you have to walk up the sidewalk along the road and over the bridge to get from hole 10 to hole 11 and again for hole 17 to 18.

The design of the course itself is pretty decent. The lines are extremely tight in a few places. Not having a serviceable BH/FH combo can cost you strokes in spots. My FH game is basically non existent, hole 11 reinforced that to me, and not so kindly I might add. Putters and mids are what most will be throwing on the majority of holes here. Leave the distance drivers at home.

There's a little bit of elevation in a few spots. Nothing crazy but at least it's not completely flat out there.

The course is permanent and free to play. Probably not going to be the busiest course out there either, though it had a few other groups out there the day we played.

Cons:

The course plays alongside a creek. The course doesn't appear to drain well in a number of spots. Expect to encounter some muddy spots after recent rains. With that, some of the tee pads can tend to be slick/covered in mud. The areas around holes 6,7 and 8 seemed to be the worst offenders if I remember correctly. Tees for holes 10 and 18 weren't in great shape either when we played.

The disjointed nature of the layout is kind of odd. The long walk over the bridge isn't great, especially with what holes you get over there. Kind of lackluster for holes 11 thru 17. holes 15 and 16 are the definition of filler holes. Hoe 17 is practically the same thing but at least has a pretty steep hill behind the pin.

Due to the cramped nature of the course, there's some holes that play pretty close to each other. This is kind of the deal when trying to smash this many holes into this amount of space.

As was mentioned in a prior review. Not a pleasant smelling course. After any substantial rainfall at least.

Other Thoughts:

Decent little course for what it is. Not worth any kind of effort to go out your way for. But it can be played in a reseasonably short amount of time. I haven't played all the courses around here, but this was one of my least favorite. Moreso just because of how good the other nearby courses are.

Play it just to play it if you must. But don't go in expecting too much or you'll be sorely disappointed.
