Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great start, great property, great potential.

Cons:

-This is an acre or two of one-dimensional and irregular hole design on several acres of diverse and interesting terrain.
-Most tees are not good.
-Mostly tight woods shots.
-A couple open field shots just plopped in at the end.

Other Thoughts:

-Give a pro course designer 6 months and a chainsaw for a full redesign and this course could be hosting tourneys.
-Locals are probably stoked to have this course, but, if I'm staying this close to BTV, I'll likely keep choosing the little course in Willistion.

Really fun little tester 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 3, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Two tees hit the 'Advanced' and 'Intermediate' Mark.
-Lots of elevation without much heavy climbing.
-Tight little circuit can be played fast.
-Was playable during summer recess days
-Has been upgraded since photos
-Very pleasant place to be
-Some balance of mowed grass and cleared woods
-A lot of very interesting shots. Earn your birds for sure.

Cons:

-Not really a Rec or Pro level course.
-Some longer pads would be nice
-A couple of the woods shots were repetitive
-Hole 18 is just an open field

Other Thoughts:

I really like this course. I played the longs one day and quickly motored around the shorts the next. Both rounds offered some challenge and variety. Check out the photos: There is even more elevation than it appears. The 14 tee is finished and 17 now has a lovely garden obstacle in the middle. You will see the many tight line woods shots....bring those putters and control mids for sure.

The few open shots would not really qualify as 'Big Arm Air it Outs' and the tee pads don't support a full run up either. Similarly the short tees here would be a handful for new and rec players with lots of elevation and tight lines. But for most players this course should offer a mix of fun and challenge in a very pleasant place to play.

I probably would have objected to re-climbing the same ridge twice for the whole middle part of the rounds, but the layout here is so efficient that the total climb is pretty easy. The reward is EVEN MORE devilish little air descents that are worth the effort.

SCHOOL: I was sorry to miss the Tuesday 530 doubles.
I could only play both rounds during school hours over summer break. There were lots of cars in the lot but cross your fingers, no one seemed to mind. There were also no 'non-players' on the course which is always a bonus.

Great young course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 29, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great design with challenging holes which gives ample opportunities to use every shot possible. Elevation changes and trees really made me think. Very fair Par 3 course with several birdie opportunities. Very clear directional signs hanging from the baskets pointing to the next tee. Baskets are easy to spot in the wooded terrain.

Cons:

Gravel tee pads, but they are wood framed and open in the back for decent run-up shots. Signage is lacking at the tee pads. Open fairways in the meadows can get quite marshy after a good rain, so bring extra socks and/or a change of shoes. Same goes for some of the steep hills in the wooded areas - the wet clay can be slippery.

Other Thoughts:

I will play this course again next year, and I'm looking forward to seeing it improve. Anyone visiting Burlington, VT should definitely play through this one. Just remember it is closed when the school is in session.

My first impression 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 6, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Close to Burlington!

Well thought out course design. None of the holes felt too easy, or too hard, and none of the holes felt the same as another.

All baskets had arrows pointing to the next tee. Super helpful for navigation.

Cons:

Muddy trails going up and down the hills were very slippery. Wear the right footwear and be careful.

Hopefully the signage at the tees will be improved. Many of the stakes didn't last the winter. Hole 15's map made me shoot at the wrong basket, but oh well, I'll know for next time.

Other Thoughts:

A diamond in the rough for sure. I'm so excited for a new course near Burlington!

Very Good Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 1, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is a great new addition to the area. It has a good variety of terrain, with uphill and downhill fairways (sometimes quite steep uphill or downhill) incorporating lots of woods, rocks, and a few open fields. You won't get bored here!

The DiscCatcher baskets are nice -- they are bright colored so you can see them through the trees and they catch discs well.

The first tee was easy to find, and I was able to navigate the course without a map, only having to backtrack once. The last basket doesn't seem as far from the parking lot as the description says.

I'll definitely be back!

Cons:

Overall I really like the course, so I'm having to nit-pick a bit to come up with some cons...

Many of the blue tee pads are a bit short to allow a full run up, and the gravel fill is still pretty soft (but I assume it will pack in time.)

There are a few too many narrow fairways for my personal taste. I certainly like a good tunnel shot now and then, but with that many, the course could get frustrating if you're not right on your game.

Signage could be improved.

Other Thoughts:

I didn't see any photos posted, so I took a pic from each tee with my cell phone and I'll upload them shortly.
