Other Thoughts:
This was the first course in the Carson Valley area built nearly 10 years ago. There are definitely some signs of age but this course still holds up pretty well. It's fun, short course that plays through tons of old cottonwood trees along the Carson River. Once you're in the middle of the course you totally forget that you're playing in the desert. Lots of shade, and big trees with a river running along the course. Truly, a great setting.
About 25 minutes from Carson City, you roll into a gravel parking lot where the Hole #1 tee can be seen past two practice baskets. There's a covered gazebo type structure with some picnic benches along with a bathroom right near.
The first couple holes play along a field with some random obstacles that are natural but clearly put into place for the course. Then you get more into the thick of the course with trees and shade plentiful and tons of fun shots to be had. Water can come into play with some errant shots, but for the most part you don't have to worry. Most of the shots are shorter (less than 400') when I have played here, but there are some holes that have positions in much longer placements.
There's an extra 4 holes on the back 9 between 16 and 17 with permanent baskets. Nothing crazy exciting but adds a bit since most holes play a bit short.
I don't think there are any real standout holes for me. Just a very solid course that has seen better days. If they added new baskets, teepads, signs, and a couple longer pin positions this course could easily be a 4+. Between this course and Carson Ridge, it makes coming down to the valley from the lake not too shabby.
