Diamond Heist 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 13, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

(0.348 Rating) (REVISED - visited October 2019) An abandoned niner that use to shine.
- BAGGED IT - This course use to have a lot going for it. But now, there's not much. Perhaps an extreme bagger might still be able to claim that they played another course.
- RAW BEAUTY POTENTIAL - If the property were kept up, this is about an average looking piece of land when compared to the other courses I've played. Just about no manmade structures in view and almost a fully wooded layout. A few slight elevation changes and a variety of trees and shrubs to throw around.

Cons:

A downward spiral for the last two years
- ABANDONED - On a recent trip back to Dothan, I decided to swing by here to see if the rumors of unkempt conditions were true. To say this place is overgrown is an understatement. Shoulder high grass and weeds were on 90 percent of the parcel. The baskets on holes (1) and (9), I presume have been stolen. The remaining baskets were not in good shape and the tees were falling apart. Everything that I had pro'd before, has become a con. I doubt any work has gone into this place in the last 18 months. It's rather sad what can become of a course when the effort dries up.
- CHAINS - Low quality baskets and as noted above, they are falling apart.
- PARKING - You literally park in a field. Normally not a concern for most, but bringing a vehicle that rides low to the ground is not a good idea.
- TIME PLAY - Considering the conditions, there will be a lot of searching for discs for those attempting to play here.

Other Thoughts:

Diamond Disc Golf is a shell of its former self. It was so bad when I re-visited in October 2019, that I elected walk around instead of risk losing a disc by playing. I gave this course a low 2.5 back in August of 2017 as everything was brand spanking new then. In today's condition it's not even worth a play for 95 percent of the course baggers out there. For those in Dothan looking to throw a round, I'd recommend Taylor or Eastgate.
- WHAT COULD BE - This course could easily get turned around. With 50 volunteer hours, a bush hog, a sawzall, a lopper and a replacement of the 2 missing baskets could would get this back to 2.0 rated course. A upgrade of the baskets and tees could it back to 2.5 territory. The layout and game play is fine, the grounds just need some love.
