Dover Hill Course In Dire Need of Some Help! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 12, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

I must admit that at least a portion of my negativity toward this course comes from attempting to play it under some nasty, wet weather conditions. My feet were so wet and cold, I felt like Leonardo DiCaprio's character, frontiersman Hugh Glass, from The Revenant. I did manage to avoid any savage attacks from grizzly bears but was never the less, cold and miserable.

Dover Hill Park should be an ideal place for a disc golf course with it's rolling hills, wide open spaces and lots of scattered mature trees. But with the carpet tee pads which were completely saturated, confusing incomplete signage and crummy old, rust bucket baskets, the experience here was less than stellar. In what should be, a simple little nine-hole course, I was as lost as Hugh Glass was in the wilderness.

Cons:

The baskets are really unattractive, rusted out as they are.

The carpet tee pads are soggy and uncomfortable when wet.

The tee signs are incomplete and confusing. When gazing out from the pad, I was never sure which rust bucket I was throwing to.

Other Thoughts:

Driving here, as I passed park after park, I thought, there are enough parks in this area to build thirty-disc golf courses. But maybe, before any other courses are built, someone needs to take care of their business here and upgrade the amenities.

Could be great 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great design, 2 true par 4's.

Cons:

The baskets, no teepads, can be confusing.

Other Thoughts:

If you play the course with a local so you know it it's a great course with a great design that is a lot of fun. Don't let the baskets get to you. The course require many different shots both up and down hill, it's a little gem in Joplin.

Poor Condition 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 2, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good location near a second nine hole course (OCC course)
-Slightly hilly, easy to walk.

Cons:

-Baskets in dire need of repair
-No cohesion to course
-No real tee pads
-No signs to show where next hole is or where the basket might be

Other Thoughts:

This course is in need of some major work. With no tee pads, course signs, and bad baskets, I would give his course a pass. Each tee is only marked by a pole with a number on it, and figuring out which basket to play is difficult. The baskets are also rusted and some of them are bent up.

This could be a good course if it has some work put into it. Once signs are put in, baskets are repaired, and some sort of tee is put in place, the OCC / Dover Hill combo will be great places to play.
