Top-Notch Private Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

-unique and secluded course in a beautiful valley with lots of water in play.
-well maintained course with friendly owners.
-nice variety of shot selection, including a few holes with nontraditional layouts.

Cons:

-susceptible to flooding
-the back 9 plays slightly fieldish although the shots are still challenging and have a variety of elevation changes.

Other Thoughts:

-course is somewhat under construction, the owners take input from local golfers and try to improve course!
- I live in la crosse and would much rather drive to play this course than pettibone park.

One of the best courses in the area! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Front 9
-Excellent long warm up hole to get loose.
-Beautiful tee pads and high quality baskets.
-Perfectly mowed fairways and greens.
-Great use of water hazards.
-Accessible rough.
-Good mix of open field shots with interesting putting greens and well placed pin locations.
-Good mix of wooded technical shots with fair putting greens and surfaces.
-Well defined lines and double options on the wooded holes.

Back 9
-Huge elevation changes and great use of water hazards.
-Technical putting greens with high risk/reward.
-Perfectly mowed fairways and greens.
-Excellent signature hole 17 and 18.
-High quality baskets.
-Good variety of shot selection.
-Absolutely huge air shots.

Cons:

Front 9
-A bit muddy on hole 2 putting green until the grass grows in.
-Some putting green (10 meter) clearing on wooded holes would be appreciated.
-Hole 9 is in temporary location until clearing is complete.
-Missing 2 concrete tee pads on hole 5 and 9. Though not problematic, aesthetically not 5 star.

Back 9
-Under construction but definitely playable and mowed extremely well.
-Firm gravel tee pads rather than the beautiful concrete ones on the front. Still very comfortable to throw from, but again, aesthetically not 5 star.
-Cool rock bridge can be tough to navigate in the rain.
-11s pin is near 12s tee. Difficult to run a tournament at current tee location.
-Hole 16 is under construction still and requires a bit of maintenance. Would love to see it go up the hill and play as a placement par 4 in my humble opinion.
-Hole 16 still muddy for the time being.
-Hole 17 has a grass teepad at the moment.
-Sure, there are a lot of field shots, but the huge trees, incredible elevation change, and the well designed pin locations keep it from feeling like a field course.
-Amateurs may consider the back 9 too "field like".

Other Thoughts:

I listed a lot of cons not because this is a poor course, but because it isn't a 5 star course yet. They are simply suggestions from a very critical individual.

The listed cons are slight and should not dissuade anybody from playing this course or bringing their family out for the day.

Camping is within a mile which makes access easy if you are traveling.

This is one of the best courses in the area. The care that goes into this course is absolutely top notch!!! The course is constantly evolving and changing as Joe and his wife work hard, every day, to maintain the perfect fairways and greens while also pushing the envelope of inventive course design.

Having a clubhouse on site and access to golf carts makes this a great experience.

Ball Golf, Mini Golf, and Foot Golf make it fun for the entire family.

The price to golf is extremely affordable and food and drinks are available at very fair prices.

When the course is complete, it will likely be a 4.5 to 5 star course.
