Disappointingly Boring 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 21, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Navigation between holes 8/10. There are posts marking each tee, and it's very open so you can usually see the next tee from the previous basket. 13 is tucked in the trees and would be tough without a map. There are alternate tees on most(maybe all?) holes that are tough to find.

Course maintenance 8/10. Course is very clean and most of the time it's well mowed.

Finding discs 8/10. Everything should be easy to find except holes 16 and 17, where there's a decent chance to lose a disc in the lake. Holes 1 and 18 have very short water clears.

Variety of distances 7/10. While there are a lot of holes in the 250'-330' range, there is enough variety in distance with hole 17 and especially hole 5 being long, and several on the back nine being under 200'.

Navigation on holes 6/10. Sometimes it can be confusing when you can see a lot of baskets from the same tee since there aren't any fairways or anything, but it's mostly self explanatory.

Baskets/Tees 6/10. Baskets are good, tees are natural and a little uneven but not the worst.

Cons:

No alternate basket positions, 0/10.

Decisionmaking 1/10. Most holes are completely open, so there isn't much to make you think when selecting your throw.

Variety of openness 2/10. Most holes are completely wide open off the tee. 13 is technical to the point where the only real option from the back tee the only option is to just throw an overhand. 16 and 17 are the only other relatively technical shots and bring the lake into play. 12 has the telephone poles as a cool double mando.

Variety of shot paths 2/10. Hole 8 favors a left to right, 16 requires a slight right to left (but not too much or you'll be in the lake), 12 and 17 require straight shots. Everything else is totally open.

Reasonably challenging all levels 2/10. Beginners may enjoy all but 16 and 17 as a good course to learn how their discs fly. For any players with experience at all the course will be extremely boring. The only challenge for these players will be the wind, which there is likely to be a lot of with how exposed it is.

Use of obstacles 3/10. I appreciate the effort to bring the lake into play, and the use of the telephone pole on hole 12 and the attempt at a technical shot on 13, but I feel the designer missed many opportunities to make more of the other holes more interesting. This course probably could have been a much better 9 hole that could have some of the obstacles on each hole, but it seems they felt the need to throw in filler holes to get 18.

Elevation 3/10. There isn't much, but there is at least some, which is more than I can say about a lot of courses in the area. The little elevation is at least used with some variety.

Comfort 4/10. Some benches would be nice. Very little shade until the end of the round. It's at least well mowed and on the shorter side, and there isn't much worry of hitting non-disc golfers.

Other Thoughts:

Challenge 2/10.
More exact rating 1.705

When I first came to this course shortly after it was put in, I was expecting much more based on the reviews that were up at the time. I was very disappointed by how few of the holes had any obstacles at all. This course is close to a 2 for me, adding concrete or some other type of pads and more informative tee signs would get it there. Anything higher than that would require a massive overhaul of the design. I do hope this course will help attract some new people to the game though.

Boring 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 26, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

It is wide open. There are not many obstacles. The last few holes are near water, so you have to be careful, but the rest of the holes are clear. There are very few trees. Most shots are straight shots to the hole.

Cons:

It is boring. If there were more trees it would make you play around them. Everything is wide open. The tees are muddy. The brackets are not numbered so it can be difficult to know which basket you ate playing.

Other Thoughts:

There are better courses near by. Play them
