Pros:
+ Located in a nice family park, the course is short, but the woods and elevation make for a surprisingly technical challenge
+ Great signage, with large photos taken from the tee highlighting the basket location - and every hole has a name describing its key feature (e.g., "Creek Bed", "Old Toboggan Run", "Rocky Road"). The signs include the extra feature of a diagram showing the lengths of each portion of the hole (e.g., distance to the dogleg, and distance from the corner to the basket)
Cons:
- Baskets are aging and chains are rusting; the tees are minimal: some are wood-framed gravel, and some are just dirt. No next tee arrows, which would help a lot since several tees are often visible from the basket
- Footing is a bit sketchy in some areas because of the terrain: the lower parts of the course get a lot of washout, so these fairways are largely exposed rocks and uneven surfaces. There are swampy areas around holes #15 - #17 which you may have to throw from. These sort of conditions aren't unusual for a wooded course - but since Eurana is often described by reviewers as "beginner friendly" be aware that newbies are going to be throwing in some challenging conditions
- Difficulty navigating the course as a first-time player. This is a compact property, and you'll see multiple baskets from a lot of the tees, especially in the middle section of the course. There's no map on uDisc to help guide you, and the Google map linked on DGCR isn't very useful. Not a problem upon multiple plays, but the first time around will include some extra walking
- The swampy area of the course should be avoided after any rain, or in the middle of summer: playing #15 - #18 could be just miserable with deep mud, lots of ferns to hide your disc, swarms of bugs and the occasional snake
Other Thoughts:
~ For baggers, this is a once-and-done stop. For those who live nearby, Eurana Pool Park probably falls into a "tweener" category: Although it's short, the woods and elevation changes would be a lot for a beginner to handle, and I don't think a newbie would enjoy disc golf much if they played this course too early on. But for experienced players, the holes will get dull pretty quickly, as they become a series of ace runs and birdies (great place for league nights).
~ Eurana is transitional course for somebody who's ready to graduate from the basic open field layouts like Ontelaunee Park, but not yet ready for the length of somewhere like Hickory Run
