Nice little niner 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 25, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Short, pleasant disc golf course in a pretty neighborhood park. I enjoy playing this sort of course, and if I lived nearby I would grab a quick round frequently. Great way to work on your approach game.

Wide-spreading mesquite trees yield lots of low-ceiling technical holes, providing some challenge despite the mostly-short hole lengths. Many holes feature multiple lines, with a reasonable balance between backhands and forehands. Skip shots can also be useful to stay under the low ceilings.

Good, level baskets. No rough to speak of, so chances of disc loss are very low. One long bomber hole provides a nice change of pace.

Navigation is reasonably straightforward, even for the traveling player. Short walks between holes, and all baskets are visible from the tee. Trash cans by the parking lot.

Cons:

Benches have been installed in the fairway on holes 4 and 6. The bench on hole 6 is directly on the main route to the basket, and the bench on hole 4 straddles the sidearm line. If either bench was occupied when I played I would have skipped the hole.

Natural tees are in decent shape, but can be muddy and slick after it rains. Not a big issue because most holes are short enough for standstill throws if needed.

No elevation to speak of. This course is flat, flat, flat. No bathroom on site.

Other Thoughts:

This is a quick, fun sping. Seven of the nine holes are between 150' and 245'. If you want to bomb drivers just keep driving past this course. I played a solo round in less than 30 minutes with two putters, a mid, and a fairway driver.

This is a good beginner course, and I saw several newish-looking players enjoying their rounds here.

Wind can be a factor while playing (neither a pro or a con, just a thing).

Easy to combine with Boerne City Lake Park, about 10 miles away, if you are driving through the area. I also spotted a private course driving between here and Boerne, but did not get a chance to check it out.

As mentioned in other reviews, signage states that the course is for HOA members only but I did not have any difficulties playing here. A few families with young children were playing on the playground and walking the gravel paths, but did not interfere with playing the course.

The DGCR map location directs you to a spot on Keeneland Drive, but a small sign a few houses down marks the gravel driveway that leads to the course parking lot.

Glad you enjoyed it. As far as benches and trails and other issues, you're absolutely right. I just want you and everyone to know that we are in the middle of a complete re-design, and the new layout should be in place soon.

Solid Neighborhood Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This nine hole course is back in a very nice neighborhood and signed "For Resident's Use Only". However the local who took me out there plays it often and has never been hassled.

The holes play over short mowed grass with no brush but quite a few mesquite trees. The trees hang low and add a lot of low-ceiling flavor to the course. You'll often have to keep your drives low or risk getting up into the branches and getting knocked down.

All of the holes require some shot shaping, with some requiring that you hit a tight line to get to the basket on your drive. Having both a forehand and backhand is an asset here.

Hole lengths vary from 150' out to 480' (par 5!). Seven of the holes are under 250', so this is a great midrange and putter course.

Cons:

No teepads and only rudimentary signs with hole number, par, and distance.

Course is flat, dry, and short. If you are looking for elevation or bomber holes you'll be disappointed.

There is a walking path and at least one bench very much in the fairway of some holes. If the park was busy you would need to be watchful and perhaps skip a hole.

Other Thoughts:

This course is set well back into a residential neighborhood with some twists and turns to get there. According to my local guide it is played very little and the park itself isn't busy.

It is marked private and for the use of residents only, but I assume that if you behave yourself you'll be fine.

Fun Course - Worth the Stop 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 28, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Solid baskets

Good design given the land to work with

Flows great (i.e. it's not a John Houck walk .25 miles between holes).

Plays quick, played 2 rounds in an hour.

In a park, so manicured well.

Good shot variety, can throw forehands, backhands, rollers on many holes.

Cons:

Natural Tee Pads, although not really an issue here because this course doesn't get played that often so erosion isn't an issue.

There's a bench that's just been put in on hole 6 that is right in the line of your drive.

Say's it's a private members only park, but saw no enforcement of it.

Other Thoughts:

Solid little 9 hole course that is a lot of fun to play. There's only 1 "long" hole and all the rest are short holes. That said the designer did nice job given the land to work with. The course plays mostly under a bunch of mesquite trees so low and accurate shots are required. Great course to dial in your midrange and putting game. If you're passing through on I-10 I'd stop and check this one of the list.

Pros:

Nice 9 hole course hidden in a growing community.
New Discatcher baskets.
Good mixture of holes.
Good beginner to average player course.
Small park with gravel walking paths throughout.
Paths add to challenge for playing as OB's.
Playground for children to play.
Playground shouldn't come into play.

Cons:

Natural tees.
No Bathrooms.

Other Thoughts:

Not a destination course but an add if your in the area.
