Enjoyable course drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good tees with shorter distances that are fun for everyone.
-Quick play through

Cons:

-Not much in the way of amenities or markings

Other Thoughts:

This was a fun walkthrough for us. We didn't spend much time in the park other than to play quickly as we had a flight to catch. Second round in a row in which Jen defeated me!

Pros:

-Tees, not perfect, but the cobblestone is flat and definitely better than natural.
-Tee posts are good for distance, tee skill level (there are three), par, and hole number.
-Fairways are nice mowed grass in a park
-Rough is not really rough, it is just assorted bushes and/ or going far away with the strong winds.
-Trees are not too common at this park, but when they are present, they are in the way (that is a good thing), and make you shape your shot some more. Also on the more open holes, 3-6, there aren't really trees, but there are some bushes, and the basket is usually next to or behind the bush. Navigation is easy, a quick scan of the park easily reveals the posts, and if you have a map, there will be no trouble locating the next tee.
-There is a small creek that runs through the park and it comes into play on a lot of holes, either throwing across it, over and back, or right next to it.
-This is a very beautiful park, and it is a perfect setting for a casual recreational disc golf course.
-The open and short nature of this course allow for a lot of different throws, which I thought was really nice. I typically don't spend a lot of time working on my 200' putter forehand, but this course allows me to do that.
-No garbage, only a little bit of graffiti which is always unpleasant, but better than garbage.

Cons:

-No elevation to speak of.
-Paths to and from the tees and the baskets are not there... which makes them bad.
-Only one bench on the course, although this is a short play and isn't very taxing.
-The distances are not very long, mostly hovering around 90 meters. I only pulled out a distance driver for a massive hyzer shot because i wanted to really test the wind.
-A couple hole are really close to walking paths, not a problem on a calm day, but the frequent windy days in iceland could present a problem.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great course to add to your play list while on vacation. I played this one on the way to the airport from Reykjavik, it fits in pretty well on that route.

There Is Only One Course At Fossvogsvollur! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Disc Golf Course Review shows two course 0.2 miles apart. Fossvogsdalur is the same course only with a different spelling and area. Too bad, I was psyched to play two nines tonight.

All these Iceland courses are starting to feel the same. They each have the exact same tee map. Each has had the exact same size tee pads (patio blocks) and each has had three tees, the Long Blues, the medium Blacks and the short Reds. Three of these courses have been very similar in distance, challenge and design. Fossvogsvollur has some water to play around as the small creek comes into play on 1, 2, 4, 8 and 9. # 2 also has a water carry over a pond of about 200'. I like the fact that this course loops back to the start.

# 1 starts with a 70 m hole with a right curve needed and the small creek present. You need to clear this creek. # 2 is the water carry over the pond throw. # 3 is a 67 m hole with the basket resting atop a small hill. Then # 4 is 100 m with the stream on your right. I wasn't thrilled with # 5. It has a row of trees in front of the pad, which slants uphill. There really isn't a natural throw here, maybe an overhand?

# 6 is basically long, 113 m, straight with some bushes on the right. I did like # 7. It plays 70 m from the Blue tee with the basket visible through a gap in the brush. You can reach the basket by throwing through the gap or over the brush as the basket sits about 10 m past the brush and trees.

# 8 is 86 m from the black tee, straight, with the basket set in the trees ahead. Then # 9 wasn't my favorite either, only because the most direct path to the basket requires a throw right over a walking path. And the path curves here so you might not see a kid on a bike. You could throw a safer shot, a big hyser around the trees, either clearing the creek or laying up short. The basket is just across the small creek. There are some trees along the creek to contend with.

Cons:

Hole # 9 could be a safety concern.

My personal pet peeve, a sloping upward tee pad on # 5.

More ugly graffiti on baskets and on the back of the tee map.

I didn't always find all three tee pads.

# 7 Red sign scraped off. These courses all have the exact same kind of vandalism. And apparently, the same douche with a marker.

Other Thoughts:

I preferred the course I played yesterday (Laugardalur). It had a couple of more interesting holes and none as poor as # 5 or with safety concerns like # 9. Mostly, these Iceland courses seem to be of the cookie cutter mold. It's amazingly how similar they have been. But at least today was one of the nicest summer days Iceland has enjoyed this summer, 60 degrees with mostly sunny skies.

First course in iceland i played 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 11, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Very beginner friendly
- good baskets
-multiple tee locations win marked tee signs on each hole
- good risk/reward shots with water around the baskets

Cons:

Some pars were a bit off, I drove pin high on 3 of the baskets marked par 4.

Hole 9 throws around a blind corner where bikes ride down a path that you throw along.

2 holes I believe played very close to kids jungle gym area.

Concrete blocks on some holes but natural on others

Other Thoughts:

It was a fun course in a nice park with some cool shots
