Short Rec Course Att Glades Springs In Daniels, WV. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Resort at Glade Springs is a large sprawling complex with many recreational opportunities. I 'm not sure if all these homes are rentals, timeshares or what? Many look like normal lived in homes.

As you enter the resort, there is a friendly guard to let you in. From the gate at the road, it's about 2 1/2 miles back to the Lesiure Center and course.

There is a small kiosk in the parking right where the course begins. It has a small course map and some other informational sheets that looked boring. I neglected to read them. There is a rules signs at the start. The course has smaller concrete maps, excellent colored, metal tee signs. Each sign has a map showing both the hole you're playing plus the following hole. The baskets are Discatchers with the yellow band and #'s. Much of the course has wood chip fairways and any other erosion prone areas. Not only are this wood chips a much better alternative to erosion problems but their pleasant to walk on and they look good, too.

The course plays as an easy recreational level. I think it's a little to lengthy to be called a pitch n' putt. Holes range from 190 up to 525'. There are enough trees strategically left to add to the fun factor. You will have to throw both hysers and annies. But on the first eight holes, there are definite lines to the baskets.

I didn't much care for # 9. First, it's kind of too long for this course at 525'. Secondly, I didn't find any fair route to get there. After a poor tee off, I found myself fighting to throw through the thick woods. This hole would be fine at 300'.

Cons:

There is an unmarked practice basket sitting out in the field by itself. It's far enough from the start that players aren't going to think it's the practice basket.

$5 to play 9 holes.

Easy recreational level 9 hole course.

Other Thoughts:

Reminder the information sheet on the kiosk? As I was cooling off after my round, I happened to glance at that sheet. It says you need to check in the Leisure Suit Center, pay your $5 and receive one of those wrist band thingees. Sorry, I already played, I was hot and sweaty and I was in a hurry to get on down the road. I was going to pay my $5 to the friendly guard but he had gone fishing of something.

I recommend a stop here. The course has a fun little vibe going for it. It's not exactly right off the interstate but I think the short trek is worth it.
