Pros:
The disc golf course here was designed by disc golfers and their handiwork is evident. I like the design aspect of having a disc golf hole on each of course 18 holes. It makes navigation much easier. Also, they have us teeing from the same tees as the golfers, no more looking around for tiny pink ribbons. The baskets are a very pretty blue Discatcher.
The course is squeezed in between the mighty Columbia River and a freeway and is almost totally flat. You play nine holes out, then back to the clubhouse, then the back nine plays out to the east.
The disc golf portion is probably slightly more technical and less open than many ball golf courses. Likewise, with the length with five holes over 500' but no ridiculous open 1000' holes like some I've seen on golf courses. When possible, baskets are placed under trees or in the case of # 10, slightly up one of the only elevated spots on the course. The # 18 fairway is relatively tight for a golf course hole. Excellent course for throwing rollers.
Cons:
I Am a little concerned that 3-4 baskets are placed just past the greens. I always think about us sticking a disc, tombstone style, and messing up one of their perfect, pretty greens.
Two holes play next to the freeway which is not only noisy, but kind of disconcerting, as well.
A little open for my tastes.
Grass greens. But I think in this very dry climate, they would never get muddy or slick.
Other Thoughts:
When I paid for my round ($7) and cart rental ($10), The gentleman in the clubhouse forgot to charge me for the cart rental. When he realized his mistake, he just said to not worry about it. After getting a free cart, of course I wanted to reward his course with a 5.0 rating but being a professional reviewer, I decided to go with the more honest rating of 3.0. It's a nice course and I enjoyed. I would play it again.
This is a golf course experience where the feeling is welcoming, not just trying to grab our hard earned cash like other golf courses i''ve played.
