Damn Nice Course Near Grand Coulee Dam In North Dam Park! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 8, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

North Dam Park is a medium sized multi-use park featuring skateboard park, ball fields, tennis courts, both nice grassy areas and more undeveloped areas as well as large power poles and towers. The undeveloped areas as well as the electrical towers are utilized in the disc golf course.

The course has nice metal signs with usual helpful information, par, hole #, distance, the route to the basket and sponsors. The baskets are the Liberty models.

One of my favorite things about this course is that the designers managed to implement five downhill throws in a nine hole course. All disc golfers like throwing downhill, right?

Another creative element was on # 2. It tees off from up near the road to a basket 301 ft. below. Initially I was thinking what a fun downhill throw until I read the tee sign more carefully. # 2 is a mando forcing you to throw between the electrical tower's pole. It's not that difficult of a mando but it changes your tee-off now to a anhyser throw and certainly adds to the holes degree of difficulty.

# 3 is a fun little 287 ft. downhill shot with the basket set under a tree but close to the parking lot OB.

I think the distance on # 6 is listed wrong. The sign says 281 but it seems more like 180, and plays like 180.

Cons:

Wow, not much. # 9 was a boring throw across an open field.
A couple of the baskets have the numbers facing the wrong way, that is away from you as you walk up to them.
# 4 tee sign is missing.

Other Thoughts:

I was pleasantly surprised with this little course. Having five downhill throws is always fun. Some thought and creativity went into the design here. There are a couple of rather clever basket placements. # 6 is a fun little ACE run. # 8 forces you to throw over large growth of brushy material.
I enjoyed this course and could play it over and over again and never grow bored with it. Of course, if you live in Grand Coulee, you better enjoy this course because your next option is a long drive away. And I'm not talking about a long drive with my Vulcan, I'm talking, like an hour's drive in a car.
