Can’t In Good Faith Give A Three Hole Course An Average (2.5) So I’lll Settle for A 2.0 Rating! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

I can't help myself because I really, truly believe that building these little junior courses with three to five holes is a fine idea and a outstanding way to get youth and others interested in disc golf.

Hagelin Park in one two of junior disc golf courses in Cheney along with the five in nearby Spokane. All seven courses have the same great signs and Mach Series baskets. Hagelin doesn't seem to have a practice basket, though. The parks are similar typical city neighborhood parks with scattered mature trees and lovely maintained grounds. There is a large community pool here although it's closed for the pandemic.

Hagelin's junior course plays in a circle with hole lengths of 175, 205 and 109. The park is sandwiched between Eastern Washington University, Blix Elementary School and Cheney High School.

Cons:

The signs don't face the basket. They face perpendicular to the tee box.

Only three holes and they are pitch and putt distances.

Grass tee pads don't show much wear.

Other Thoughts:

I gotta think being across from the Eastern campus, this little course would merit a certain amount of play from the college crowd. There is a city park across the street with tennis courts. It could easily accommodate two or three holes and bring Hagelin up to a nine hole course.

These junior courses seem a little bizarre but I think they'll definitely reach more players than having one 18 or two 9's. If the park's departments of these two cities do decide to add more holes, I would hope that someone in the very active disc golf scene would give them a little advice on how to properly install a tee sign.
