Where do you go all year!?!? 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 4, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

What a fun course! This course is like nothing else in the Lowcountry. Beautiful, extraordinarily well manicured park that takes you on a walk through the old growth oaks, magnolias, and cypress trees.

This course demands absolutely every shot. Left, right, high, low, roller...there is an opportunity to throw almost everything in the bag. It is refreshing to actually have to throw up and downhill here...we don't get to do that much in Charleston. A few of the shots are tight...but none unreasonably so. Good shots are appropriately rewarded. Poor ones are fairly punished.

It was really awesome to have lengthy par 3s on the card and a few par fours that required precision and rewarded a nice shot.

Hole 6, teeing off from the gazebo, is one of the most picturesque shots I've seen in the sport.

17 across the water is beautiful, and is almost overshadowed by 19. Throwing across the water and bridge to the "island" landing zone was an absolutely thrilling shot. If throws like that don't get your heart rate up, then you're in the wrong sport

Cons:

The obvious - it only exists 4 days a year.

Interference from pedestrians who aren't used to the course being there.

The blue disk tee markers are hard to find. I've heard in years past there were mats for the tees. Wish they had been there this year when I played.

Navigation is sometimes tough if you don't know the course - bring someone that has played before.

A few of the early holes are in somewhat close proximity to each other

Other Thoughts:

Man do I ever wish I could play this one every day. It is a much more complete (and sometimes humbling) test of disc golf than we see most places in the Lowcountry.

Honestly, if this were a permanent course, I would probably give it a 4.5. But with temporary tees and baskets, and taking into account that it is temporary, I am going to give it a very solid 4.

A Jewel of a Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 8, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A great variety of shots and distances, which will challenge anyone. Island green is reachable, but risky, fountain hole is absurdly wonderful, and the gazebo hole demands your best. Great setting, with amazing, twisted trees, but all in all a fair test.

Cons:

Temporary course.

Other Thoughts:

Playing the Charleston Classic is a treat, in and of itself, Trophy Lake is a great course, but this alone makes it worth the trip from anywhere.
