A course on Long Island? Heck, sure! 2+ years

Pros:

This is set in a pretty big state park and has some good variety. About half of the holes are fairly wooded.
These tended to have nice options in terms of risk/reward and the lines you needed to think through. It's nice to step up to the tee and have to consider several different options.

The rest of the holes were pretty open. This was my first round in over two months, so it was good to have some holes where I could air it out.

The area of the park appeared pretty isolated. Tough to tell since I was there on a Tuesday early evening in late March, but I doubt you'd have other park goers interfering with your throws. As I said, it's a big park.

Every hole had next tee signs.

Cons:

There is no elevation here at all. The open holes are a little dull. While several do feature a gap 300 feet away that you need to hit, so placement of your drive is vaguely important, many were just grip and rip holes and blended together. I had some drives well off where I was aiming, but I wasn't punished at all. Also, since the basket was tucked away through a gap or in some trees, it wasn't always easy to tell where I was throwing. I did consult the map a lot.

Tee pads were planned out with stakes but are not installed yet.

Long-ish walk from the parking lot to hole 1.

The wooded sections have the thorny vines off the fairway, and I imagine it's bad in the summer.

There were signs all over about Lyme disease, so beware. You could end up like Avril Lavigne if you're not careful (whether suffering from Lyme disease or married to a mediocre Canadian rocker; either way, be careful).

Other Thoughts:

If you're on Long Island, this appears to be your only year-round choice. If they put in reasonable rubber or concrete tees, this will be a 3.0.
