Pros:

Jacksonport DGC is a small nine hole course in a park that basically consisted of one baseball field and a bunch of nothing behind that. So really it was the perfect spot to build a course in an area without too much else around.

The baskets are white Dynamic discs Patriot baskets. These catch ok and are all in great shape. They each have the hole # on the top band as well as a large white flag attached to the top. One basket and pin position per hole.

The tee signs are excellent. They feature the hole #, par, distance and an OB description if applicable. The map is very detailed and also shows the OB areas and the short tee location if playing from the longs. They have tee signs at both tees too, which is always a plus imo. Blue signs for longs, red signs for shorts. Very well done with these.

The course features a mix of lightly wooded and wide open holes. The woods come into play on holes 3 through 7 while the rest play in the open area behind the ball diamond. The course starts and ends by the parking lot too.

Cons:

The tee pads aren't great. They're weirdly short but wide gravel pads. You'd almost be better off just having natural pads. Especially if you going to shape them this way. Hell, they are technically half natural unless you throw a standstill drive. Was not a fan of these.

The design is not great here. It's not even good really. Even with the detailed tee signs, numbers on the band AND the large flags on top, I ended up throwing to the wrong basket twice. There's a four basket clump in the middle of the course where unless you've played here before you could easily make the same mistake.

On top of that the wooded holes play WAY too close to one another. It's an accident waiting to happen. They would've been much better off shortening 1 and 9 (which share the same fairway going in opposite directions btw) and adding another hole or two in the open area. Hole 4 from the long tee is a RHBH hyzer shot that throws over the edge of hole 3's fairway. Blind. There's more but you get the point.

Holes 5 and 6 from the red tees share a tee pad facing opposite directions. These holes are 77 and 85 feet long respectively. Absolute filler nonesense. This is due to the cramped nature of the design. It's just a clusterf*** in that section.

Other Thoughts:

This one was a big disappointment for me. It has some nice amenities but the design was a huge letdown. And honestly, it's probably too small of a space to have anything other than red level tees. If they would've stuck to that I think it would've been ok. As is I wouldn't play it again. It's borderline Sunset Park with actual signs and baskets. Play it if you must.
