NOTE: I wasn't too worried when I wrote this review. I'd been to it twice and I was thinking I'd be back as it developed. Then we had a pandemic, the arthritis in mah knees got worse and four years later I hadn't been back. It's 18 holes, it has tees and tee signs, and a bunch of things I didn't like were corrected. I got back and played 1-9 before my knees gave out; I have to go back again and hit all 18 holes and update this review. You really should discount this review until I do.

Jaycee Lake Park is a really nice community park that is kept up very well. The disc golf course in theory uses some open space on the east end of the park and could be a good fit into the overall park use. The whole park slopes down toward the reservoir that serves and the "lake" so there is a lot of elevation to work with here. There is a nice variety of uphill/downhill shots here. The site is lightly wooded but allows for some nice recreational park-style shots. There are a few 300'+ shots in the open south part of the park, but the distances are manageable. It's a nice recreational design that has the potential to be a good recreational course.

The park is very busy, and most of the tees are on a heavily-used walking path. The course would fit in with other uses much better if the tees were moved off the path. Two tees are in parking lots; the first time I was here I never found the tee for hole one since a car was parked there. Another tee is on a park road which creates a possible disc golfer vs. car scenario I wouldn't want to be the disc golfer in. Establishing actual tees would greatly improve this course.

There are no tee signs, so you wander with a map trying to get oriented and find the tees set in the ground. It can be frustrating wandering looking down for a tee. Tee signs are a needed upgrade to this course.

The baskets were not set low enough into the ground; the locking collars are 6" or more above the ground, making the baskets themselves sit up higher than you would expect. The baskets for 4 and 5 are set in an open portion of the course up high where the wind usually is blowing, and you have to putt higher into that wind because the baskets are set incorrectly. It makes me grumble and curse when I play here.

The tee for hole 4 is set in a place where the basket for hole three is an easy griplock away from being in the path of your drive. That tee should not be that close to the basket.

There is a "pro" tee for hole 9 that clears a little water after about 30' the throws over a walking path; it seems like an attempt to add a "water shot" that doesn't pay off as a water shot and brings a walking path into play. They should have just skipped that.

As it currently is, I'm not a big fan of Jaycee Lake. The design isn't half bad and with actual tees, tee signs and remounting the baskets at a regulation height I could see making the trip more often. It's got the potential to be a pretty good rec course, it's just not quite there yet.
