Great starter course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 14, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is in a small city park with mature trees. Small elevation changes come into play on several holes to add some interest. There are a few holes in the open, the rest play through the mature trees with a variety of hole shapes. The tee signs have hole shape and length, and the flow is easy to follow. The rubber grid tees are a good tee surface.

Cons:

There are a lot of safety issues here, a lot of holes are crammed into a small space. Many shots have the potential to end up on other fairways, and there are some baskets within 50' of other tees and baskets. This course is designed for beginners, and new players compound these safety concerns with less accuracy and attention to course etiquette.

There isn't really any challenge here, 16 of the holes are ace runs and the other two offer 250' shots through plinko trees. If you want to get your ace count up, this is a good stop, but it doesn't challenge any part of your game longer than an upshot.

Other Thoughts:

I would love to have this course nearby to introduce new players to the sport. It offers enough trees to keep things interesting for beginners, but short lengths and no punishment for errant shots make for an easy introduction. More experienced players won't find much here to challenge or interest them.
