Pros:

Kennedy Elementary DGC is a nice little beginner friendly 9 hole course located in the fenced in area to the west side of the school. The gates are open during the summer and I'd assume non school hours when school is in session. Short holes that cater to the school children, which is what it's there for.

The baskets are Discatcher's but the bargain budget temp style ones. These are alright for the intended audience. Not the greatest baskets though. One basket and position per hole.

Natural tees, which were all in good shape. There's blocks imbedded in the ground with the hole number on them serving as both the tee pad and sign. More than adequate for a short course like this. I liked the fact that they put these on flat areas to make for decent footing at least.

The course is extremely short, but the property is actually pretty hilly for being such a small space. The hills are used well out here. These and the wind are going to be the main obstacles you'll face here. Perfect for little kids, decent for mediocre players like myself.

The course starts and ends near the same area. While not that close to the parking lot you need to remember it's a school course. That said it's not an obnoxious distance from the lot either. The flow of the course is simple to follow. All baskets are visible from the tee except one I believe. And that one was just down the hill a bit, hence it not being visible.

Cons:

The baskets suck. Let's be real. They catch ok and everything, but these are more like backyard practice baskets than what you're used to seeing on an actual course.

Very hard to locate the stone "tees". It's just easier to play from basket to basket, or more practically the nearest flat area.

Not open when school is in session. The fenced in aspect was annoying, just as far as getting to the course itself and back to the lot. I also threw a disc over the southside fence due to the ripping winds. I'd recommend not climbing these, just go around. I almost slit my wrist open and ended up with a tear in my pants and two bloody hands for my (ill advised) climb.

Other Thoughts:

Decent little school course. Keep in mind who it's designed for. Quick pelt to bag if you're in the area but by no means go out of your way to play here if you're looking for quality. Very basic equipment that gets the job done and serves it's intended audience.

Get the Kids Started

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Baskets OK (Old, but OK [Like me...])
-Uses elevation of grounds nicely
-An OK start for the kids

Cons:

-Grass tees
-Found a couple of blocks in ground for tees
-Limited hours
-Short

Other Thoughts:

Kennedy Elementary hosts a short DGC in the heart of Dubuque, IA. Tucked amongst the other playground equipment the course plays along the grounds west of the building. We only found a couple of blocks in the ground to denote a tee (see pic for Hole #5). We did not find one for #1, so we started off the basketball court to the basket labeled #1. Older baskets, but they caught OK. There is some elevation to work around, but not much else. Definitely a starter course with all holes sub 220'. Would be OK to introduce someone to the game, but otherwise, not much of a course. You could fix the tee spots, add concrete, but not much with an elementary school course. Unless you're bagging, I'd skip it. I won't be back.
