Sorry I confused myself!

Pros:

The Kiwanis Park 9 hole 'Lion' layout is a fun opportunity to stretch out on a lengthy road trip, and add a state to your course bagging bragging rights. But you may want to take a little longer to enjoy the 18 hole 'Whiz Kid' course if you have the time. The full course is likely going to settle in around a 3.5 to 4.0 rating here on dgcr (which means it's really good). The full course has more length and stronger challenges than the niner (holes coincide for 1&2, then 5-9). The eighteen includes a mounded basket and a hanging basket, four holes with water disc loss potential, and more use of OB.

But this review is focused on the nine (plus two) holes that I played. Good signage, clearly marked mandos and OB, best use of the available elevation, large, level concrete tees and bright red, new, Veteran baskets are all indicators of folks who like their disc golf. The Lion course is well suited to recreational to intermediate skill sets, with nothing too overly long or taxing. I especially enjoyed the ace run 8th, and liked the fact that the uphill 7th was also kept 'in range'. Shot variety was very good for a nine hole layout. In all, this course was just what I'd hoped.

Cons:

I personally got myself confused at hole 3, thinking both tees went out to the basket at the end of the soccer field, so I threw from what I thought was the 'short tee' at 397'. When I followed the next tee sign from there to hole 4, and wound up looking at a sign that said 12, I realized what they had here. So I played 12 and walked back over to the 'other' hole 3. Oops!

But other than wayfinding for first timers, the main cons here might only be that there wasn't a lot of elevation to be utilized here, and the woods weren't really used except as edges to get around.

Other Thoughts:

My first course in Kansas was chosen for its 'location, location, location!', but I'm glad I endured the road construction detour to stop by: I was able to play the Lion 9 hole course and briefly be impressed checking out the Whiz Kid 18. With this new dgcr format, it's not clear if these are currently separate listings, but they likely should be, in order to avoid my mistake... :)

Pros:

This is a great course. One of my favorite in the 4 state area. Great for beginners and intermediate players to play and notice their progress in distance and shot shaping.

Cons:

Honestly i don't have any cons. Love this course.
