Good mixture of long and short, elevation changes, and blind shots. Good pin placement creek plays in to a few of them. If you go for it and miss, you might end up in the creek. Fairly easy to navigate. Course map on hole one.

Hole 1 plays next to a sidewalk, you may have to wait for pedestrians.there was also a hanging basket but we didn't know if we were supposed to throw to it or not. We just threw to the one we thought was on the map. Maybe needs a few more trash cans, but the park was clean.

Nice course, I will come back.

Great course, bunch of new pads put in!

Great course, occasional snakes in stream running through course can make retrieval a little tricky.

They have holes short enough for the Simon-Mooney team to get to!

This course has a good balance of shorter holes, and holes with moderate length. Hole #1 is a nice hole to start the course out. It is a short hole and has a tree that comes into play before you reach the basket. #2 tees off from on top of a hill and shoots to the south, with the fairway being downhill for most of the hole. When the wind is out of the south, it makes this hole even more challenging. #3 is a shorter hole, but has a nice big tree protecting the basket. Holes 4 and 5 provide you with the chance to go for the pin, maybe you will get lucky and get an ACE! #6 is pretty much a straight ahead shot with the basket on the other side of a wooden bridge that crosses the drainage ditch/stream that runs throughout the course. #7 is a nice short hole with the basket tucked nicely behind a tree. #8 has you throwing across the slope of the hill that is in the center of the front 9 of this course. ***Be sure to aim for the correct basket, hint it is not the one that is visable from #8's tee pad, that is basket #3*** #9 is a fairly wide open hole. It plays a lot longer than the 400+ feet that is listed on the tee sign because it is all uphill.
Now moving over to the other side for holes 10-18. #10 is a hole in which a nicely placed drive will leave you in good shape. There are trees to navigate around on your drive as well as a drainage ditch/stream on the left hand side of the hole. #11 is a semi blind shot where a RHBH thrower would do well to throw a hyzer, in my opinion. #12 is a straight ahead shot with a bush behind and left of the basket. Again here is a possible ACE just calling your name. #13 is a down hill shot with trees and rough on your left and that drainage ditch/stream just behind the basket. #14 is a wide open shot, so just let it rip. #15 is similar to #14, as it is open, but the rough and stream are on the backside of the basket, so don't go long. #16 is a short shot with the basket tucked into the trees and the stream on the left side. #17 is an open shot which brings you to the last hole.
#18 is a very nice finishing hole for this course. If you are a RHBH thrower, a shot with Anhyzer might be to your advantage. There are trees to contend with off of the right side of the tee box, as well as on your approach. You have to shoot over the drainage ditch/stream and your approach shot must be well placed in order to get your par. The basket is uphill from the stream. Again I really like this hole to finish out this course.
This course uses the terrain and topography that it has to its advantage. There is a solid mix of short holes, up hill shots, down hill shots, water threat, and windows that will challenge you as the thrower. Not overwhelming for a beginning player and not underwhelming for an advanced player.

The first con for this course is having to back track from #3's basket, back up to the top of the hill to get to #4's tee box. Also on hole #6 to your right is a neighborhood street that could come into play. Also the basket is just on the other side of the bridge that is part of a walking path in the park. The restroom is also to the left of the basket. Please be aware of your surrounding before you let one rip on this hole. On hole #10, there is a picnic shelter area that could come into play on the right hand side of the hole. Hole #14, if you pulled one to the right, you could possibly put your disc into oncoming traffic.

They have recently fixed the tee marker situation at this course. As you can see from the photos, and have read in other reviews, the tee markers used to be on the actual tee pad. Now they are in the grass beside the tee pads. Also all the tee pads have been extended. This improves this course tremendously. Not only does this eliminate the safety aspect of hitting your hand on the sign on your follow thru, but extending the tee pads allows the discer with the proper distance for a runup and follow thru.
The drainage ditch/stream that runs thru the front nine of the course has been dry all the times that I have played this course. There is water in the stream that runs thru the back 9 of the course, but if you have the misfortune of going in there, you should be able to get your disc back.
There are other amenities at this park. There are 2 different picnic shelters, one with 2 bbq grills. Also there are 4 very nice tennis courts, restrooms, and a very nice playground. All of these facilities would be another option for your family, if they were not into disc golf. There are also scorecards available in the mailbox that is attached to the course map sign. Also Ellsworth county disc golf plays every wednesday at 6pm. There is a phone number attached if you are interested.
For a small town this a well manicured course and offers a challenging round of disc golf, but is also beginner friendly as well.

If I lived in Ellsworth, I would be glad I had it. Long but narrow park. Some nice terrain with a creek running through.

I have to agree with "scarpfish's" review - (see below) - although they indeed have the area and baskets - it's just all wrong.

Some good amenities for a small town course. Concrete pads are adequate as far as ground space. Signs are nice and show hole location good, and ackwoledge that there is such a thing as Par 2. Excellent course for beginners and small arms as you won't need a distance driver, and will seldom need a fairway driver. Due to its relative openness, has good safari hole potential.

Of what use is a tee pad if you put the hole sign RIGHT ON IT? As a lefty with a small run up, I was able to use them...a little, but the posts at the right rear of the pads make them otherwise useless. 18 holes are crammed into a space better suited for 9 or 12. Too many par 2 holes, particularly on the front 9. Too many spots on the course where you can easily hit a non-DG'er. Holes 6, 10 and 18 are particularly dangerous. Baskets are unnumbered and its hard to tell which one you're supposed to be aiming at on some holes as you may have 2-3 within view.

There is definitely good terrain in this park to build a disc course, but not an 18 holer. Sell six of your baskets and get someone with some creds in course design to come in and make a better layout with the remaining twelve. You can use the funds from the sold baskets to pour dual tee pads on the new holes. I like Hole 6, but I don't like having to worry about someone's kid dinkering around on the footbridge or coming out of the restrooms right BY THE BASKET. Same issues go with the picnic shelter on Hole 10 and the children's playground on Hole 18.

That being said, I don't want to discourage people from trying the course. More often than not, there will not be enough traffic here to discourage you from letting it fly. But if its a weekend Summer afternoon and lots of non-DG'ers are in the park, you might want to find another course, or stick to putting practice.

UPDATE: I'm giving this course a 1/2 disc upgrade because upon further review, its a whole lot better than others I've given 1 1/2 discs. I went here on Labor Day to find nicely mowed grass throughout the park. It would really help move the game along if someone in town would start selling discs.
