Pros:
Located at beautiful Lake Stephen's, about 10 miles from Beckley, this may be the number one course in WV. I love the design of this wooded course; no hole is like another.
-The course is very wooded, but fairways are wide for this kind of course
- Plenty of par 4's that placement and upshots are crucial to score on.
-Elevation is all over the place, not just flat, not just steep.
-Blue tees for pros, Whites for intermediate, so all will enjoy this course
-Great Tee signs have just been installed at EACH tee pad. (5/19/22)
-Course isn't easy, but still scorable. Birdies and Bogeys to be had.
-Awesome forest, very beautiful area.
-Forces you to throw all types of shots with all types of discs.
-For being a newer course, fairways are in great shape.
-Blue Prodigy baskets are a nice change from typical colors.
- It's a park, but because its big and out and back, it doesn't feel like it at all.
-Turf tee pads often can be a miss or hit, and these hit pretty well, best out of nearby courses for sure.
-Baskets are placed very well.
Other Thoughts:
I love this course, and it's not even done. There will be B positions all holes, and even a couple of C positions! Not sure if they will get more baskets after they make those positions or move baskets around. Once OB stakes is added, finishing fairway touches are added, and new positions brought about, this will be one of the best courses built.
All Positions are A as of 5/19/22 except for 18, which they just did B for the par 4.
Best Holes:
Hole 8: a bomb it massive downhill 378 foot shot for White. Blue has a elevated tee thats 438 feet.
Hole 11: Double mando through a natural V tree.
Hole 13: a up and down par 4 that then turns left on the hillside. (Position C will be a par 5!)
Hole 15: Island hole across the lake inlet (only white tee pad for now)
Hole 16-18: 16 is a twisty par 3 with two shots: pitch up around the corner or get aggressive on a s curve/turnover. 17 is 204 foot downhill that plays way shorter. Lake is through the trees behind the basket. nearly impossible to park. 18 is a par 4 that starts with a wooded uphill shot that sets you up for a open straight shot on a hillside. First shot is crucial here.
