Let Down

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Course is located on a nice, well maintained piece of property owned by a very nice elderly couple.

- Layout was some-what easy to follow although, still had to refer to uDisc a few times.

- The "borrowed" baskets from Highbridge Hills caught well but I felt dirty throwing my discs into them knowing their true origin. The signage was OK and provided enough info.

- A couple of deer watched me throw one of the absolute straightest throws I've ever thrown with my rarely tossed Mako3 down the tightest fairway I have ever thrown with 10 feet of disc swallowing rough on each side.. gotta say, it felt really nice tapping in for birdie on one of the sketchiest holes in Bayfield County.

Cons:

- I believe it was $10 to play both courses which I guess seems reasonable but both courses just weren't that great with this one being the bigger disappointment.

- The rough is very, very bad with little to no efforts being made to trim it back. Most fairways in the wooded portion were only about 4-5 feet wide and there was no real reason for that to even be. There's a pretty high chance of losing discs here during the summer when the course is open on about 90% of this course.

- The teepads are absolutely horrendous. They are portable framed 2x8 pieces of wood with astro turf on top. Pretty much having to x-step on top of a moving box. Not very fun or safe.

- Another not-so-great factor was the grass on the fairways themselves were not mowed or didn't seem like they had been mowed within the past week or so. Good shots still had a chance to be passed over due to grass being knee high in some parts. Seems like all the attention goes to the other course which is located on the actual ball golf course (go figure, LSV IS a golf course first and a disc golf course 2nd..more like 3rd actually).

Other Thoughts:

The Rendezvous course at Lake Superior View Golf Club seems to be more of an afterthought or just another way a certain individual can charge people $10 while using equipment he did not get permission to take from another certain disc golf mecca located not too far away.

I really didn't want to be so negative in this review based on my personal dislike for the designer of this course. I say designer because JJ does not own Lake Superior View and the owners themselves do not know about his past because I doubt they would've hired him on. I was really kind of hoping he actually did something nice up here but the courses have proven to be both pretty lackluster.

I'd say avoid this course and save $10 and the gas money it'd take to drive up here.
