Pros:
-nice prodigy baskets
-two turf tee pads on each hole
-lots of trees in play on every hole
-distances range from 200' to 400'
-holes with forced shots or shot shaping required
Cons:
-no signage
-the turf pads are okay, they are more of a tee sign than a good throwing surface
-there is a walking path in play on nearly every hole
-some of the tees are forced into positions behind trees that demand strange, unnatural shots
Other Thoughts:
Lakeside City Park has a 9 hole disc golf course that is pretty fun for the average player but has some issues. The course plays counterclockwise around the park but so does a walking path. It comes into play to at least some degree on every hole.
The holes play amongst the trees that are scattered around the edge of the park. They are most dense on the east side of the park where holes 3 & 4 and tee 5 are. Many of the pads are placed right behind a tree or two creating a forced window. Some of them work but some of them seem like they are trying too hard. The variation between the two sets of tees are sometimes pronounced.
I enjoyed my round here. It was my sixth of the day but my round from the longs was engaging and went quickly enough. I could see spending the better part of a day here with a group and playing each tee twice. There were a number of groups out when I played and they were all nice and let me play through. There weren't a lot of walkers out but I could see having to spend a lot of time waiting on nice days.
This is definitely one of the courses to check out in Wichita Falls for any rec and intermediate level players. Advanced players might be bored. Course baggers will have a good time and it's a quick play. A few tweaks and better tees and this could be a really nice course.
