Pros:
New layout- the new lay out is long throughout and technical after hole 5. I think they still do a great job using the water and paths as ob to create a difficult starting 3 holes. Once you get into the woods the shots a technical, but more than fair. There are lines on every hole. I would say there is only 2 "filler holes" now that they have changed 15-16. Even though the filler holes still leave some difficulty
Length- it is a long course through the woods with a few legit par 4s added in the mix. It's a tough pro level course.
Maintenance- whoever cleared the area did a fantastic job, it is so much easier to find discs than the old layout. You still are punished for missing your line, but it's not thorn central anymore, and once this course gets beaten in a little bit, it will only be better.
Fun level- this course is a blast, you have to decide on shots and have placement on most of the holes in the woods. The new hole 15 is a signature hole- 500 plus par 4, but there are so many other great holes on this course. I get whooped every time I play, but always leave happy. It's such a nice contrast to the shorter easier south course.
Elevation- there are several holes that use elevation to make some picturesque holes. I was so surprised when I saw them, especially being from the area, it was a very pleasant surprise.
Cons:
It's still easy to get lost from hole seven to 8. There are no permanent tee pads yet or signs, but I'm sure there will be in the future.
Other Thoughts:
Once the tee pads get worked out and signs are put up this course will be a 4.5, possibly a 5. It has the potential to be a top 3 course in Mississippi and one of the best courses in the Memphis area.
