The #2 Course In Latimer, Not Moving Up Anytime Soon 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Walking down the road and next to the pond , I started at #5 ( I think ) and started the course from there . Whatever funds they injected into the South course , certainly didn't carry over to the North one . The tee pads are cement , still short like the South , but okay . The baskets aren't as good ( some Chainstars ) , looking older than they are , but still catch well . The signage is on some plastic white poster board that were all faded except for a couple in the woods , and unable to decipher . If you are an out of towner like me , and the printing on the internet map is so small and make you unable to read the hole numbers , then yo will have a lot of problems with navigation like I did . I stood on a tee near the ball fields for 5-10 minutes trying to figure out how to attack this course without skipping a bunch of holes . There are still water carries on 2 of the holes , and a scary throw on one of the holes that come close to the water . There is a good amount of wind that will affect some of your shots here . Some of these holes have some clever placement . You can get back some of your strokes in the short woods part of this course . One of the holes has a water carry that you will land your initial drive near a woods . If you misplay the drive , you stand a chance of losing your disc in the small lake . Your 2nd shot plays with you mind . If you cleared your drive away from the woods enough and threw it a decent length , the you will throw your approach to a sort of inlet , with water to the left , water directly behind and water to the far right . The course was windy that day and I didn't want to risk losing my approach disc , so I swallowed a 4 by throwing my putter 3 times . The hole previous to this one has a basket that sits at the top of a man made hill . Nice touch . After the water carry hole , turn right and walk along the inlet part of the lake and near the woods where you will duck in to the woods for the next hole . You will face a series of short holes ( looking like they number 9-14 or 15 ) . through this woods . You may want to walk up the path on some of these holes . The woods covers the baskets up sometimes , and I threw a Hyzer 120' past the basket to where i thought it would be .After following these paths , you will eventually pop out to several holes that stay on the outside of the woods and run along the road line . Some of these holes are kind of boring and offer little resistance to your game . There is a nice little downhill throw that winds up in front of an elevated basket . Also , when you follow the second pond , it will take you to another water carry hole which will take you back to the parking lot .The course design is okay , and the park Dept. keeps the open holes moved ,Waterand bathrooms are close to the water carry hole Signature hole is the first water carry hole to the inlet .

Cons:

#1 sad , but the navigation for this course is terrible . One of the worst . The signs are ridiculous . and you are never sure where to go from tee to tee .record you score so you don't miss any of these holes . I was backtracking several times . #2 . Bugs . They are terrible here . Not much the park can do , but the lake and woods make these critters hungry for flesh . Douse yourself with generous helpings of bug spray And check for ticks afterward . #3 . many of these holes will seem like they are too easy for the intermediates or the pros . #4 Some of these holes come dangerously close to the road and cars . If this park is busy , you may have to stop and wait. #5 The rough is pretty unforgiving in the woods . and even on the sides of the open holes . Watch your drives closely . One pin , one tee on this course , except the water carry hole .No benches or trash cans on this one so carry out what you carry in .

Other Thoughts:

A compliment to the South course , without the compliments . Still , the holes mix it to the point where it is worth throwing a round either before or after the South course . With some better signs , a course cleanup , and a better course map , this course might be pretty good . And you have to remember that there are back to back course that will give you hours of enjoyment . My recommendation : If you only have time for 1 round , definitely play the south , but if you are not in any hurry or are from out of town , then you should come to this park AND PLAY !
