Throwin' by the Mississippi

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 26, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Fun track in downtown Little Falls which abuts the Mississippi River. The dam is nearby which makes for a calm water flow. New DD Veteran baskets with a neat red white and blue theme. Park style course impeccably maintained. Concrete teepads and 2 basket positions. Tee signs show distances to each basket. Basket position in play not indicated on sign but there were flags in the ground indicating the unused position (I assume for the lawn mower). Not a long course but a good mix of hole lengths.

Cons:

Board flat and not very challenging. A few holes ask for a certain shot shape for birdie but you could throw whatever off the tee and get your par. A bunch of picnic tables could come into play when playing holes 6 - 9. These were not occupied when I went through.

Other Thoughts:

Beautiful park with a boat launch near where you park for hole 1... I haven't counted but I've played a number of courses featuring views of the Mississippi and they all (in my memory) seem to have a calming / chill vibe. By no means a destination course but worth a 30 minute detour if you are traveling through the area.

Fun Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Decent amount of parking spaces.
- New baskets with a flag on top to easily spot them.
- There is a course map at the beginning of the course and each hole has a minimap that shows where the basket is as well as distance.
- Nicely landscaped park. The grass was cut and the trees added some challenge to the course itself.
- The course had a great flow and it was easy to move through holes 1-9.
- Conveniently located in downtown Little Falls, the park has an awesome view of the city and is right next to the river.
- The concrete tees are even and spacious.

Cons:

- There are no holes that require a true distance shot, but the tree lines allow for creative shot selections.
- The course is only 9 holes, but makes great use of the space provided.
- If you overthrow hole 1, the fence blocking the location next door has barbed wire. Be careful on this shot.
- There was no trash at the course for garbage.

Other Thoughts:

I enjoy playing longer courses, but this was a very fun 9 hole course. It was extremely easy to navigate with a big map at the beginning and a minimap at each individual tee. I mostly used my mid-range and putter, but I did have to shape my lines. The course was visually beautiful next to the river. There was no one else playing when I went, so it might be a quality course for new players in addition to experienced golfers.
