nice use of land, doesn't play like a typical school course and more of a challenge than expected. it has a couple real nice spots where long, accurate shots are needed

not many benches or trash cans and the tee pads are a bit small.

the main reason for my rating is the lack of amenities not the actual golf play itself, worth checking out but could use some infrastructure

This whole place is New, new new! Brand new Discatchers loop in a front nine behind and around the pond behind the baseball fields, and use some good woods lanes on that side, while the back nine circle behind the stadium and out beyond the school to the other end of the property. Tees are wide (if not quite long enough) rubber mats on a gravel base, so if you don't use much of a run-up, they'll do. I noted an alternate pin position when my disc landed on it on hole 8, so I suspect that, and signage, is in the works.

Plenty of parking, and a design that utilizes the otherwise unused perimeters of the space, mean that disc golfers can get out here and really stretch their legs on holes ranging from 150 to 200 footers in the words, to a couple of shots in the 300 to 350 foot range later on. There isn't a whole lot of technicality, so the course appears to be well-suited to the casual to recreational level high school player it was built for.

I was impressed with the fact that they've cleared the woods holes with realistic lanes, or left a tricky green on hole 3, and they've already installed some steps up after hole 7. Nice job thinking things through!

The biggest 'con' may be the handful of odd walks in the design. You'll stroll quite a ways beside the corn field between 5 & 6, you'll walk a few hundred feet between 11 & 12, and have to walk all of 17's fairway to the tee, but that's nothing like the walk back to the beginning when you're done on 18. Speaking of 18, be aware that most beginners developing their distance may be frustrated that the gap they've got to hit is a mucky streambed. A smart player will learn to place the shot as a layup, and not try to Tin Cup the thing. Furthermore, the ace run on 16 goes over that same mucky creek, which needs a bridge (I'm sure it's in the works?)

There will be times of the year when the 'un-compacted' soil here will retain a heck of a lot of water, making even treks down the fairways quite a bit muddy for now.

The day I stopped by, I was accompanied by a collarless pup who decided we were playing fetch, and not disc golf. She was friendly as heck, and seemed to be well cared for, but I hope her owners get her collared, as it were, because that is a busy street out front of the school!

Most holes use the natural features to create a course with varying shots. Nice baskets!

Better signage is needed. The course doesn't flow very well and after 18 you are left far from your vehicle in a massive parking lot.
Few tees and obstacles require sharp hyzer or skilled anhyzer shots. You generally see the basket and throw a midrange or straight flying driver.

I base my review on the other courses I've played and not on minor cons like parking.

There needs to be alternate pin locations here. This course will not satisfy addicted disc golfers on a weekly basis if all pins stay put where they are.
Grab a map or use the one on this site, not easy to navigate.

Diverse holes ranging from wooded to open and short to long. Elevation changes that are not too strenuous but that add a challenge to some holes. Well maintained. Excellent map available online loganhocking.k12.oh.us/discgolf/

Long walk from 18 to start of course. (park in the middle to avoid this). Parts of the course flood when the Hocking river is flooded.
