Great to have new course in underserved area! 2+ years drive by

Other Thoughts:

Course: Mackay Municipal DGC/Custer County Fairgrounds (NEW Tee Boxes since opened)

Perspective: Intermediate level, Master's 60+ player with low to intermediate arm strength.

Course Details/Info:
-- Recently developed 9-hole course that plays between the Custer County Fairgrounds and Municipal Ball-Golf course
-- Coming north on Hwy 93, I turned left/west on Capitol Ave and went about 6 (short) blocks to the DGC which is situated between the City Golf course on your left and the Custer Cty Fairgrounds on your right
-- the first tee is directly in front of you (as you pass the City Golf course entrance to your left) near a kiosk

Challenges/Pros:
-- since initial opening, they have installed new tee boxes filled with an interesting compacted, very coarse grey sand material that provides better footing
-- signage is good and they have 2 pin options for each hole which improves variety on the course (one hole would change from around 300' to 500', for example)
-- there are mature trees and large clumped bushes that make more precise throws necessary on some holes. Some areas are a bit overgrown so watch your discs carefully
-- everywhere you look there are incredible mountain vistas including the Lost River range with Mt. Borah and Leatherman Peak to the east
-- good mixture of backhand and forehand holes with short and long fairways

Opportunities for Improvement:
-- some areas are overgrown enough that some shrub trimming, etc would help
-- the pins are more like my lightweight practice basket than heavyweight ones like Discatchers so a putt may slip through the chains

Summary of Rating/Play:
-- a solid start to a promising course and kudos to the improved tee boxes
-- good course for beginners and intermediate players
-- great addition to this area in Idaho and other cities would be wise to consider these additions. Keep in mind I drove here specifically to play this course and will buy lunch/gas here.
-- I would classify this as a 2.5 grade course but with a bit of trimming it is a 3
