Pros:
-Good Baskets
-Elevation to work with
-Mix of wooded and open
-Quick round
Cons:
-Natural Tees (for now?)
-No signage (yet?)
-Pink flags that were marking tee boxes are mostly gone from the winter
Other Thoughts:
Note: McCord is a work in progress, allegedly. Currently 9 holes with designs for a full 18. An updated review will follow...
McCord Park hosts a young course on the SW side of Indianola, IA. New in 2022, the first 9 are now in place starting from the east edge of the parking lot. The first 5 holes are in the woods up and down and along a creek. 3 of these (#1, #2 and #5) are under 200', but working with elevation and in the trees. #3 has a sharp left dogleg and #4 is a mostly straight run in the trees. Holes #6-#9 play in a large open area in the center of the park. Things are still rough here, especially in the wooded section. It is much more a beginner/intermediate course, but that works OK here. If you want the challenge, Picard is just 3 miles to the east. Add some concrete tees and signage to upgrade this quite a bit. Will be interesting to see the possible addition of 9 more, would add to my rating as well. This will be an attainable course for the novice with less elevation and an easier play though. Make time for a quick round. I would play here again.
