Pros:
This is the kind of course I'd like to see more of. It's just a great place to learn this marvelously addictive sport! The longs are tough enough to challenge experience players, and the shorts are easy enough to not dissuade new player from coming back out.
Meeks Park, though wooded, is very forgiving! There is nearly -0- underbrush to lose a disc on and the water really never comes into play. Navigation is mostly a breeze, though walking onto the course and seeing the #1 basket a the entrance is rather weird! Makes #2 feel like the first hole.
The park is absolutely gorgeous. Nice compact piece of land with lush grass (at least in July!), rolling hills incredibly clean and well maintained. Even a dog park in the center to give the pups something to do!
There's a nice blend of uphill, downhill and cross hill shots. The uphill/downhill will take a slight toll on your knees and legs, but well worth it.
The majority of the holes are mostly short and wooded, except for a few, and those are GRIP AND RIPS.
#3 is 450' WIDE OPEN
#4 is 350' WIDE OPEN - uphill!
#5 is mostly open over the top of hill and down the back side. NOTE OF CAUTION: I believe it is #14 that you are sharing and BLIND fairway with. I about took the scalp off of someone who was coming up 14 as I was throwing on 5. Best to have a spotter here.
#9 is WIDE OPEN and LONG. Sign says 736, but is more like 450' to a basket to the left (sign says straight)
Apparently in the recent past the course might have been slightly redesigned because some of the signs are way off (#9). #10 says hyzer to the left, but it's actually straight out and uphill. The distances listed are also kinda crazy. Most are way shorter than indicated
Cons:
Not many, but there is a walking path that is very active with walkers and folks with dogs. Some of the tees are on blind drives so it's easy to hit a someone who's not paying attention
Some of the new tee pads are really short. I'm not tall, but I could only take about 1 1/2 strides which messed up my timing some. Several tee pads were just a short stride and throw.
Very minor here...but the #1 basket being at the park entrance was just strange! Have no idea why they did that.
Other Thoughts:
This is a super fun, birdie filled course. The wooded holes are easy to navigate even with new players. The down hill bomber shots are short, but a blast!
