Pros:
Very challenging course.
Good lines and lots of variety of different shots needed for a good round.
Gateway baskets
Holes 4 and # 6 are the signature holes
Hole # 4 plays straight with a landing zone that would be preferable to throw your initial drive. Fairway is tight at first, but fair. There is O.B. (neighbor's property to the left of the last part of the hole and at the bend of this dogleg right kind of hole. Hole has an island green, lined with logs.
Hole # 6 is a Monster hole. Over 800 feet long. Don't go off the fairway, you'll pay the price. But fairway was very challenging and fair. It played like 2 sections. Straight first section about 500 and more feet long, slight left in fairway with another 250 feet down a tighter section of the fairway to an elevated basket.
Hole # 5 is a must birdie!! Short hyzer drive for a RHBH player. but they're a 2 distinctive trees one must navigate around to have the possibility of a birdie.
Holes 1 and 9 are the closest to the house (on the left side of the long driveway)
Course designer didn't want a course where people shot -10 all the time, he wanted the player to be challenged and he met his objective. Shooting under par at this course will be very rewarding!!
Cons:
Only 9 main holes (there is a 18 hole set up, but you'd use some of the main 9 baskets)
uneven carpet tee pads
Other Thoughts:
Private course! MUST have permission to play. Owner/ Proprietor Michael Anderson is a really good person, he just asks that people respect his property and have permission to play his course. On SE side of Mount Vernon area not to far from town.
