Well, old holes 1 and 9 are gone, they are building a new building there.
So holes 1 to 4 tee signs were moved to baskets 2 to 5.
Navigation is not too hard, I thing the hardest was the 2nd hole to the 3rd hole (now labeled 2 to 3, was 3 to 4)

For a campus course this is what it needs to be, short and easy but interesting to get college kids hooked. I do have a problem with hole 2 (3 basket) because there is a blind walk way 3/4 down towards the basket. If someone actually walked out right as you threw, you may hit them.

The area where holes 1 and 9 use to be is now going to be a building. Someone moved the tee signs so you now play #1 to #2 basket, #2 to #3 basket and #3 to #4 and then #4 to #5 basket, but there is no tee sign saying #5, you play #6 to #6 basket to hole 8. I don't know if they are going to change up the course and put the 2 baskets back out somewhere, they could easily do it. But because of the move, the distance on the first 4 holes is wrong on the tee sign.

As far as the 7 holes in place. They range from about 150 to 250ft. Most of the holes are ace runs for any seasoned player.

But for what the course should be, a place to get college kids hooked, it is a good course for that.

Would I play here again? No, drive on to Pineville or up to Shreveport to play better courses. But if you live in town, or go to school here, it is better than nothing and you can drag new people out to get them hooked.

This is a nine-hole course that can be played in 10 minutes and with one disc. Some of the holes are open. Some of the holes are in areas with trees. They are all short; there may have been one hole longer than 200 feet, but not by much. The baskets are all Mach IIIs.

Northwestern State has grown into a pretty college campus and now it has a very nice beginner course. Better players can challenge themselves by trying to get a 2 on every hole. I'd say "birdie every hole" except that the pars are listed on the signs and the first hole is a wide-open, 180 ft par 4! So I guess I eagled it.

I generally don't like writing much about a course that takes less them to play than for me to write the review, so I'll try to describe this generally; this is a reasonably fun course obviously designed for beginning players with frisbees. There are just enough trees on most of the holes of this course to add a little challenge, but it can be played with just a putter or mid.

There are no tee pads (but good, unworn grass at every tee), no amenities to speak of, no navigational aids.

Navigation is pretty nightmarish. Several tee signs are not visible from the previous basket and require walks longer than any of the hole lengths - by multiples in some cases. So here goes:

Tee No. 1 is on the back side of Morrison Hall.
Tee No. 2 is across the street to the West (or Southwest) of No. 1 Basket.
Tee No. 3 is around the corner of the building from No. 2.
To get to tee No. Four, cross the road by No. 3 basket and turn left to get to the grassy area beyond the parking lot. Holes 4, 5, and 6 follow each other in this area in close succession.
After holing out on 6, cross the road and turn right. The tee sign is at the bottom of the hill in the same grassy area as the 7 basket that you can see.
As you approach the 7 basket from the 7 tee, Tee 8 is off to your right.

After 8, walk back across the road to the No. 1 basket. You can see the 9 tee from there.

This course is 47 miles from Buhlow and 42 miles from Shady Acres, both of which are better courses. Previous reviewer needs to use the measure function in Google Earth.

There just really not a lot to complain about with this course. It is a beginner course, and while not a perfect one I'd say it fits that role pretty well. It needs navigational aids and isn't really worth the trek off I49 to play if you aren't already going into Natchitoches or just want to bag it. But if I were a student at Northwestern, I'd probably play 72 holes per day.

This is a pitch and putt course, all short holes, making it great for casual rounds and one-disc play. Perfect course to introduce people to the game. Always well maintained, pretty, fair amount of shade, good use of landscape. On weekends campus tends to empty out, making for great golf.

This is a pitch and putt course, all short holes. As in the longest is 240 feet. The tee signs have laughably high par suggestions. When campus is busy (weekdays during the school year) it can be a little hard to play. The course loops around and might be hard to follow for first timers.

Inarguable fact: This is the best course for 50 miles in any direction. How do I know that? It's the only golf course in 50 miles in any direction. I've been driving to Shreveport or Alexandria to play golf, and compared to that, this course is pretty great. Would I recommend traveling here just to play it? No. If you find yourself in Natchitoches already, is it worth playing? Definitely.
