At the start there is a nice kiosk with the Delta Windjammers course map. The tee signs clearly show you that this is the Purple Course. The tee signs are colored with a picture of the hole showing the two or three tee positions. From the picture, it's not always simple to figure out which position the basket is in today. We guessed at times. The large tee signs also devote 1/2 their space for advertisers. The tee pads are concrete and nicely long. The baskets are DGA models with the a Delta Windjammer sticker on the number plate.

One advantage of advancing age is all the memories you don't remember. I don't remember the previous course enough to notice the differences. Maybe the new layout is longer? The primary challenge here is distance. The course is flat with scattered trees. I agree with the previous reviewer who stated that while the course might be an advanced recreational level when baskets are in the shorter Green positions, from the long Blue positions, the distance alone bumps the challenge level up to intermediate level. And that's why I wasn't exactly enamored with the Purple course. There were enough 400' to 500' holes that were mostly open.

# 3 sign is missing.

Holes 8 & 9 both play along the busy highway and I watched two players throw three discs onto the busy Eight Mile Road, just missing cars and a truck. Then they had to brave the traffic to go retrieve their discs.

$5 to park.

Geese and geese crap everywhere. So much that it somewhat soured me on the whole experience of playing here.

The navigation is a little tricky.

This is a solid course which receives a lot of love from the club. It's evident that the Delta Windjammer DG Club is an active group that takes pride in their two courses here at Oak Park. With two challenging 18 hole courses here and with the changing basket positions, local golfers shouldn't be getting bored anytime soon. I think this is one of those courses that really is more conducive to the local players than to the occasional visiting, traveling player.

• Nice baskets
• A good mix of fun and challenging shots
• Beautiful park with additional activities (e.g. boat rentals, fishing, nature center, walking trails, picnic areas, etc....) and facilities (e.g. restrooms, water fountains, etc...)
• Warm-up areas everywhere with a practice basket or two (?)

• $5 is a bit much to park but you can see where the money's going
• Goose poop - Yea, what're going to do really? They were probably here first.
• People, roads, cars, and houses, can be in play on a couple holes.
• Tees are a little small in spots

Tips
• There's a strip mall on the opposite side of I5 from the park that has food, gas, stores, etc...
• You can either park by #1 or by #18. It's your choice as to when you want to do the walk between course and car.

Random Thoughts:
Let me first point out that the day we went, almost every basket was in the long position and some were in the loooooooooooooooong position. This is not a complaint, at all. But it did bump up what I considered a good 'beginner' course in the old configuration to what I would now call an 'intermediate' course. There are times where you are going to be quite close to fences, roads, and water so you do need more than a fair amount of control to keep out of trouble. Although, with that said, if you play 'amateur' style, this does mean you have quite a number of par 4s to have fun with. Not that par is easy. It's not. But it's doable for the average to above-average player. But even so, I took two outright rookies with me who had only played a few rounds prior and they enjoyed the course. What does help is that there aren't any elevation changes so that means the challenges are primarily distance and obstacles (usually trees). Navigation can get a little tricky being as the angle of the pads and the angle of the pictures on the signs aren't quite what I'd call intuitive when you're trying to find those long basket positions, but with a little study, we found most of them within a couple minutes, even those that crisscross a bit with other holes. The only real time we got lost moving between holes was between 16 and 17 and part of the reason for that is the sign was gone (or broken?). Speaking of which, the signs are quite fantastic. Nice job. The only minor complaint is the lack of basket position markers. Again, you can figure it out but it'd be nice if you didn't have to. As for the shots, I did quite a bit more thinking out here than on an average course. Flight paths aren't necessarily obvious and with the additional distance, you have to have a plan for how you're going to approach the basket. Personally, I really enjoyed the challenge of it. It forced to me use almost every shot in my bag, which is a nice change of pace.

Bottom Line: While it's not what I'd call 'as beginner friendly as it once was', it's a very good course with a number of interesting challenges and shots, not to mention, it's a brilliant expansion and use of the space. Bravo to the course designers and volunteers for what is a noticeable improvement on the old course. I'm looking forward to coming back to check out the new Gold configuration.

This will make a great course for the 2016 Masters championship. On about half the holes there is a basket location that will challenge pars, and there are only a couple of easy birdies (for an Intermediate player). I'd guess par on this course with long pin placements would rate out at 940, higher if its is windy. Those with a long drive will be rewarded on a few holes. Overall a nice mix of moderately technical and long holes that makes very good use of the landscape. Well designed course.

Played on a day off with friends. Loved the course and will certainly go back. Friendly disc players everywhere. Possible ace runs on a few holes. Be careful of the road on the back portion. Can't wait to go back again.

Yes I am biased. But the Delta Windjammers have put in a lot of work on this course and have creatively used something that most parks don't have these days, more space and a park staff that is willing to expand. This disc golf course that has been there since the 1980's and has a great club to support it.

The new holes start at hole 1 on this course which is located behind the park's central parking lot. If you play both courses, and start on Purple first, you will return to the same parking lot. That is a lot of disc golf and so if you only play one course, will have about a 500 foot walk off of 18.

The new signs and tees are installed just in time for the first PDGA A Tier event here and they look great. The tees have all been back filled, so there are no lips on the sides or the front and back. All of the new pads were well poured and the tops scored for good footing.

All of the holes present the main challenges that this course highlights: the Delta wind and the magnificent mature oak trees.

The holes have multiple pins and are shifted regularly.

I feel that the Purple Course is the easier of the two courses. Gold is a bit more technical. Purple rewards the well shot (longer) drive. And it is a bit more forgiving because of the fairways. And most of the fairways are mowed, green grass, a rarity in the age of drought. Bring your big arm, and all of your different shots. Did I mention the wind?

Notable holes include Hole 4, a long shot that enters into a huge, almost cathedral like oak canopy. Hole 6, is a long doglegging downwind shot that can be over 450 feet. Hole 13 which requires a perfect shot between Stockton's own version of Stonehenge (yeah its a bunch of boulders) and the two Hole 15's (A And B) which are more of a wide open shot into the stiff and almost constant wind.

Oh, and you can drink alcohol here. A major plus and perhaps due to the Delta Windjammer's good stewardship of the course and its relationship to the County Park system.

It gets hot. You have to pay to park. It's flat. But there's a lot of golf here, if you don't like a hole you are on, there will be another one that you do like.

There are trash cans on a lot of the holes. Use them. There are ground squirrel holes that you may trip on. Watch out.

This course recently had 19 new holes added to it and it was split into "purple" and "gold"...the colors of the local club, the Windjammers. I recommend finding a map (there is one on the windjammer website http://deltawindjammersdgc.com ) before you come otherwise you will be lost/not be able to find all of the holes. There are no water hazards here (unlike gold course) but there is a road that is actually more interesting than a pond (picture disc + traffic). Furthermore, the wind adds significant difficulty, especially on the exposed holes near the road. The delta breeze kicks up reliably every evening barring storms or stagnant high pressure systems. This course can be played year 'round! Love California...

The trees are mostly large oaks that provide a variety of obstacles. Going over the trees usually requires a big arm, staying under requires finesse...you get the picture. There are usually smaller trees interspersed between the really big trees.

Practically every teepad is 4'x10', concrete, ribbed, raised.

The current teesigns simply give you the hole number, and many baskets are mis-numbered (older numbers, course apparently in re-numbering transition).

This extremely flat course skirts the outer edge of this multi-purpose park, occasionally turning in and back out to take advantage of scattered/pockets of trees, Well-maintained grass will be found on practically every fairway, along with a gaggle of geese, and their droppings, on numbers16&17. Roughly half the holes simply require a straight shot off the tee, typically needing to miss a tree or two late. The remaining holes requite either a right or a left (a couple where you have a choice), but none of the required turns are very extreme.

Holes 11-14 form a nice grouping, as large trees force a late left-turn (11), a large mid-fairway oak, its branches, and supporting trees offer a few different lines (12), open early but windowed late by trees, branches, and other obstacles (13), and an out-of-bounds driveway along the left, mid-fairway mid-sized trees forcing shot-shaping (14).

Navigation: To find tee-1, turn left shortly after passing the entry gate, then turn right into the next parking lot. Tee-1 is beyond the back left of the parking lot, behind the Miwok trail sign. If playing both courses back to back, from purple basket-18, gold tee-1 is on the other side of the small Nature Center parking lot, over the footbridge.

Navigation: If a visitor or infrequent player, a map would be useful, but not essential. The course plays in primarily a counter-clockwise direction. You cross a driveway when moving from basket-10 to tee-11, a parking lot from basket-15 (or 15a) to tee-16, and again from basket-17 to tee-18. Note that tee-18 is quite near basket-13.

A decent course, with some chances to air it out, a few others requiring a bit of touch, some shot-shaping needed, but nothing extreme.
