Pros:

(1.905 Rating) A pleasant state park niner with light recreational challenges.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - The course layout didn't get the primo part of the park to use, but it's still a very pleasant course to walk and throw. Mostly park style shots with lurking heavy overgrowth on a handful of holes. I liked hole (8) the best. This hole has a seven foot wide towering oak guarding the basket and Lake Pickwick is in the far background. I didn't like the number of park roads in view and hole (1) is rather bland. I scored the beauty a tick above average.
- VARIETY FOR A NINER - Overall, the variety is a touch below average. However, for a niner it's above average. There are a couple sub 200 footers and there's at least one shot pushing over the 400 foot barrier. Water sort-of comes into play once on (9) and there's gentle 10 to 25 foot elevation movement on over half of the holes. I liked the pocketing shot play on (5) and (8) as well. Hole (2) is an interesting pocket shot too, but it's too funky in the angle to be a legit hole.
- NAVIGATION - There's a nice course map by tee (1), that should get everyone through the layout as long as they take a picture. The tee signs are actual photos of the tee-shot showing the a flight path. The sign on (4) was missing, but the basket is straight ahead.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - I saw a family playing course while I was here and it seemed like they were having a good time. Not a true beginners course due to the overgrowth and water on (9), but there is bail out room on every hole. The course feels like its geared to Novice and Rec players.
- QUICK PLAY - I played the course in 25 minutes and I spent 25% of it searching for horrible aggressive throws. Foursomes should be done in an hour.
- MAINTENANCE - It appears to be a well maintained state park. Everything was cut and downed tree branch debris was few and far between.

Cons:

Too simplistic for skilled players.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - I think all rec players would average below par here. Hole (1) to start is a bit of dinker being open and only 150 feet. I threw a mid and putter too many times and I don't throw that far. Even par would probably draw an 840 rated round.
- MISSED OPPORTUNITIES - There seems to be enough land to make an 18 hole course. In addition, there are some really cool features in the park that appear to be available to use if park leadership ever wanted to put in 9 more holes.
- PARK ROADS IN PLAY - Low use park roads and paths come into play on six holes. I had to wait to throw a few times for cars to pass.
- OVERGROWTH - Heavy overgrowth is just off fairway in a few spots on five holes. Somehow I managed to find it four times. In addition, I found poison ivy each time in strolled in to find my disc.
- NO LOOP - After finishing hole (9), it's a 1/3 of a mile walk back to (1)
- AMENITIES AND EXTRAS - The course layout only comprises of the basics of tees, baskets and signage. No multi-tees, alternate basket placements or benches. The tees are a mix of surfaces. Most are paved and in good shape, but a couple are deteriorating carpet pads. The baskets are MachIIIs with a few loose chains.

Other Thoughts:

A rather unremarkable niner for such a wonderful state park. Among all niners I've thrown, I think it rates roughly in the middle. A couple decent holes mixed in with some meh. Definitely not worth the two plus hour drive for me, but my wife, kiddo and I all enjoyed the rest of the state park. No reason for those outside a 30 minute drive to show up here unless they're coming here for the other park features.

Pros:

Nice addition to all the outdoor activities in this very nice state park. It is very scenic with grassy mowed fairways, mature trees, and multiple views of the gorgeous lake.

Has all the essentials- tees, signs, and good baskets.

Family friendly, which is important having a course in a place like this. However, each hole offered some type of challenge, so it is not a pitch-n-put easy 2 course either.

Mostly open and mowed so little chance (but not 0%) of losing a disc.

Good variety of distance- mostly mids and putters off the tee, but I threw a driver a couple times also. Non-repetitive: straight, left, right and nicely uses a bit of elevation.

Plenty of parking and restrooms.

Cons:

Not a major challenging 18-hole type course.

Tee signs made me laugh:
-1st: the distances were in YARDS, not feet. Yep, at first I thought "how short!", then I realized I was going to have do math, boo. (except the DGCR scoring app made it easy).
-2nd: they are an actual photo of the hole with an overlayed graphic of a suggested flight path, but not a realistic one. Something you might see on a video game- a large sweeping, curving flight where the disc begins horizontal, but slowly turns over to vertical where you apparently spike the disc in the basket on the fly? Not realistic- whoever made this didn't know a whole lot about disc golf.
-The positive is they are numbered and large to help you find the next tee easily.

Some of the roads and sidewalks are in play, so as always look for cars and people before throwing.

The looooong walk from 9 back to 1 is long. I played the course twice and it felt the walk back to one was almost as long as playing the course (it isn't, but feels like it). I would recommend parking on the far side of the inn rather than the first lot you come to once you see 1's basket on the top of the hill.

Other Thoughts:

You are likely coming here to enjoy the lake and not play disc golf, but it is definitely a nice add-in if you are here, along with similar others like walking trails and playgrounds. However, there are 2 nearby 18-hole courses that are pretty good (Plantation and Savannah), so I would definitely take a vacation here for DG and the lake.

This is exactly the type of course that needs to be in a place like this. Park office even a had a small amount of discs for sale.

Pros:

It's a great course to come out on and just enjoy short range holes, while you walk your dog. Nothing serious here. The whole course is easily played with a putter. Some holes being just shy of 100 feet probably. Take the kids out and give them a lesson or two on the this course and then have a picnic by the dam.

Cons:

It does end with quite a walk back to the car.
