Technically, now the park can say it offers Disc Golf :( 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 9, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Located in a clean, well maintained park.

• Aesthetics: Reasonable. Some trees keep it from looking bland, but they really don't come into play.

• Routing/Nav: Complete non-issue. Isolated from other activities.

• Equipment: Good - Baskets are brand new DD Veterans. Tees are white boxes painted on the asphalt, clearly numbered 1-5.

• Wheelchair accessible: Yes. Perhaps more so than any other course I've seen, because the entire course is surrounded by asphalt, and the grass that makes up the course is cut pretty short, so I could see pushing a wheel chair though this being easier than on any other course I've played.

Really struggling to find some merit here.

Cons:

Five short holes with the basket straight in front of you, with nothing to avoid. Entire course is contained in parcel that's a bit smaller than 430ft x 130ft.

I normally list these under Pros, but don't feel I can do that in good faith:

• Variety: Nope.

• Elevation: Nope.

• Challenge: Nope. Two trees on #5 create a bit of a tunnel with a "low-ceiling," but... does hitting a 30ft gap, just 30 ft in front of the tee, on a 114 ft hole qualify as challenge?

• Fun-Factor: Maybe for kids 5 yrs old or younger.

Other Thoughts:

I felt compelled to list and review it, because I don't like the idea of U-Disc having a more complete listing than DGCR.

Not even a decent beginner or putter course. Literally 5 baskets out in the open, on holes ranging from 114 - 162 ft. Those are upshots, and without having to work around a tree or any reason to shape or finesse a shot at all, they're not even particularly challenging upshots. It's just long range putting practice. It actually would be a good warm up/practice area, but there's no other course here to warm up for. This IS the course.

Suitable for introducing preschoolers to the game, but honestly, not even good for teaching the game to kids older than kindergarten. I'd recommend nearby Civic Center or Gilbert Willis for introducing young children to the game, long before I'd ever send someone here.

Feels very much like someone did this just to check off a box that says the park has disc golf. No time, effort, or creativity went into this whatsoever.

I've played dozens of courses better suited to total novices. Can't recommend this for much of anything. By far the most fun I had here was on safari holes I made up after playing 1-5 per the intended layout.

You could come here to bump up your Ace count, but that would make you as lame as the course.
