Very Extreme Pitch And Putt! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 23, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

If nothing else, Rathdrum Mountain DGC is one interesting disc golf course. I don't think I've ever played a course quite like it. It's a pitch and putt set on a steep hillside. Distances are in the 65' to 150' range. Hole 1 is level. Holes 2-5 play up the steep hill. 6 & 7 are at the top and are level. Then 8 & 9 play steeply downhill.

There is a great big, brand new course sign at the start. The tee pads have a front board with a house number on it. A couple have been trashed. The Udisc app helped me find the next tee. The baskets are Discatchers with a small number on the band.

With all these sub-100' holes, the chance of losing a disc is minimal. You don't want to annie off to the right on # 6. # 9 is 102' down a very steep hill but the basket farther down the hill (# 2) would be a much more exciting throw. There is much potential here for Aces.

The course is steep but because the distances are so short, it's not all that strenuous.

Cons:

Some signage would help.

Two front boards have been torn out.

Pitch n Putt distances. No long bombs to be found here.

The ruggedness of the course will probably keep some potential players away.

The tee pads are rough but a run up isn't needed on any of them.

Other Thoughts:

I liked this little course with it's extreme elevation. The uphill throws were steep but short enough even for me to easily reach. Granted, this is probably more of a course for the 16 to 30 year crowd but this old man enjoyed himself even though he came back with no ACES.

NOTE: To Zay who who was so impressed with his 65' ACE on # 4 that he signed the brand new Discatcher commemorating this epic moment in his disc golf career. My high school football coach used to tell our backs to "Act like you been there before" when they scored a touchdown. So Zay, a 65' ACE is not that impressive. Don't graffiti up the equipment. Act like you've been there before. Sign the back of your disc. Have your buddies sign it, too. But man, it's not cool to mark up any basket!
