Nice Practice area in a beautiful setting 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 7, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Three nice Baskets.
Three nice concrete tee pads.
Not much chance of losing a disc.

Cons:

Sadly, just a practice area.
This park property is very pretty. Along side the Haw River, which was running pretty fast over rocks just beyond the park. Plus, refurbished Condos in a former mill building on the opposite shore. This could be a gorgeous 9 hole course, flat open areas, wooded areas mostly isolated from other park activities.

Other Thoughts:

I'm fine if parks want to put in DG practice areas, if there is not enough room for a course, or they don't have the funds for even a 9 hole course, this makes sense. These baskets are in a flat, wide open area of the park (check it out, you can see the tee pads and baskets on Google maps), with plenty of area in the park seemingly unused.
There are just a few activities in this park, playground, picnic area, fishing area, and, the first time I have seen these, permanent concrete Cornhole boards. These, plus the concrete tee pads lead me to believe this park might get flooded from time to time.
I stopped off to bag this course after playing the Wallace Farm temp course, 2 hours, mostly in the July sunshine and heat, trudging through a mowed farm field. So I knew I wasn't going to spend a lot of time here.
So I decided to throw my 3 Putters at the short basket (110'), 3 Mids to the ... Middle basket (160'), and 3 Fairways to the long basket (225'), then play them out, short to long. I think I was -4 playing them as 9 holes.
The baskets and tee pads are well installed, very visible in the middle of the park and fun to throw at, so hopefully they will introduce new families and players to the game. At the time of writing this review, only myself, KenanFlagler and Olorin have marked this as played. It is a quality practice area and an easy "course" to bag!
