•Plenty Parking
•Friendly Locals

Cons:

•Very windy

Other Thoughts:

I think all around this was a very fun course. A few friends and myself played this course on our way from Dallas to Idaho. After finding where to park it went smoothly. For its location the designer used all natural resources available to make it challenging... But not so much to where its a beat down. The course playes through a city park and close to a small lake which make for a couple nice views. Tee pads were large and at no time did I feel a need for more space. and the signs were pretty accurate and descriptive. Although we didn't play the alternate holes they looks like a lot of due to throwing across a small canyon. All in all a good mix of technical shots and a couple in the 400's-500's to stretch it out a little. If I ever pass through I will defiantly play again. Shout out to a local player named Cody, check on us to see how we liked the course!

Better than expected 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 21, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

New concrete teepads, well kept grassy fairways, a good use of available trees, and an easy course to navigate on my first time through.

Each concrete teepad has a nice tee sign, with pretty accurate distances.
Two extra holes on the course are 8A and 9A, that are substitute holes for 8 and 9. The regular 8 and 9 are consistent with the rest of the course, but the 2 alternate holes are a nice, challenging addition. 8A is maybe 300 feet, but it carries almost the entire length over a tree filled valley. Very cool shot, and requires anything but a typical RHBH hyzer. 9A requires a short, downhill placement shot, to set yourself up for a nice tunnel shot through the trees.

Cons:

This isn't an extremely long, or challenging course. Most holes are reachable for better players, if you can hit the required lines with accurate finishes.

The Texas Panhandle is notoriously a very windy region, and Dalhart is no exception. Be prepared to make major wind adjustments, or see your discs behave extremely different than you expect them to.

Other Thoughts:

I learned a long time ago, that when I am passing through an area, and am only going to play a course once on the way through, the highest rated, most difficult courses aren't necessarily the most enjoyable. You can spend half your time trying to find the basket on each hole, the next teepad, and your discs that inevitably go the wrong way.

This is a course that you will be able to play blind, and will get to enjoy your very first round, and any other rounds that follow. You can step up on the first concrete teepad, and quickly identify the correct basket, and the kind of throw needed to reach it. Then, the following teepad is also very easy to find, and on and on throughout all 18 holes.
You'll finish the round most likely with all of your discs, and much less frustrated than if you tried playing a championship level course without any guidance.

Rita Blanca is probably not worth a long drive out of your way to play a casual round, but if you're passing through the area, or you see an upcoming tournament, you can plan to play here, and expect to enjoy yourself.
