Pros:

River Valley HS DGC is one of the longer 9 hole school courses I've played. Possibly ever. Hole 7 is over 1000 feet alone. The land the course plays on is mostly open but some trees and treelines come into play in a few spots. The course is completely flat.

Nice white Dynamic Discs Patriot baskets on each hole. These are solid baskets and got the job done out here. One pin position per hole.

There are tee signs. As basic as can be, but better than nothing. These are just a wood post in the ground with the sign having the hole number. Like I said, very simple, but it's much better than having to check a map after every hole.

The course starts and ends near the same area. Hole 9's basket can double as a practice basket too since it's right next to the parking area.

Cons:

Way too long for newer players. A 1000' hole at a high school, and technically plays behind the elementary school actually. The shortest hole on Udisc is 296', and there's only two holes besides that under 400'.

Very long walk to hole 2. I get the reasoning behind it, but it's still obnoxious. There's lots of different sports fields that the course has to avoid which adds to the absurd length but shorten the walks between holes.

The tee sign for hole 6 was actually stuck in through the top of hole 5's basket. Probably not an act of vandals, more likely the person mowing got tired of mowing around it lol.

In the middle of nowhere and not playable during school hours.

Other Thoughts:

If you like to throw wide open bombs this will be a pretty fun course for you. Maybe funs not the word, but it'd at least be designed for you. Unlike the high schoolers who probably have to suffer through this thing.

Can't recommend this one. Even if you're in the area I'd keep on driving.

A High School Course.. For Pros?

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 18, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Place to potentially practice big drives or just use as a place to practice putts or approaches.

- Baskets were DD Patriots that caught decent and hopefully will hold the test of time.

- Big arms will absolutely love this course. All par 3's (allegedly) with only one hole playing under 300 and 80% of them over 400 feet.

- Very easy layout to follow.. minus the walk from hole 1 to hole 2.

Cons:

- Some of the lengths here were pretty long for a course that's suppose to be for high school kids. Hole 7 is 1,000 feet long and listed as a par 3 on uDisc.. Uh yea, I don't think even McBeth could birdie that one. Actually, a majority of these holes are really long and all listed as par 3's which I don't think is accurate.

- No teepads, just grass which is pretty typical of most high school courses. I think I've played maybe 2-3 school courses that actually had teepads in my entire time bagging courses.

- Signs are literally just posts with the hole # on them. No par info, no distances, nothing else.

- Can't play during school hours. Big surprise, right?

- They just kind of put hole 6's tee sign literally threw hole 5's basket.. Odd placement for sure.

Other Thoughts:

River Valley High School DGC is a extremely weird course. It's the first time I've ever seen really long distances at a school course. Not really sure why but I guess whoever designed it has an absolute cannon for an arm and needed a place to practice.

I played this one during the beginning of winter right after it snowed so was not the most fun round but I doubt playing it in the summer would've really altered my perception of this course. Again, this is one for the baggers or locals who want to air out some big throws.
