Pros:
Short, yet challenging course south of the north (basket) course. Much better view of the Grand River on the front 9 than the Basket course. When I played, course was mostly dry. Water that you play over is much easier to retrieve discs from than the older brother to the north. Throwing with par 3's on all holes (nothing more is necessary), I threw a -5 the first time I played it.
Cons:
Poles and Tees missing on some holes (#9 entirely missing). Maps aren't all that accurate at some points, so, it's kind of a huck and hope.
Other Thoughts:
With some of the issues that are becoming evident with the north course (goose crap and flooding) It seems that the city of GR could definitely (and cheaply) upgrade this course to a basket course with natural tees without much issue. There are times that it's flooded just like the north course, but it's definitely overlooked and underplayed. I will be back, just hoping for improvements.

Pros:
frequently overlooked 'pole course'. Great for if you have limited time available (can be rushed through in about 30-40 minutes) - shorter holes than the north course, but more trees and technical shots required. A good course to introduce new players to the game.
Cons:
water comes into play on several holes, and due to the nature of the water involed (the Grand River, and a few small bottomless mucky ponds), the water tends to 'keep your discs'. Several missing poles and tee signs make navigating a trick for first timers (check the sign by the first tee for approximate placement of missing holes)
Other Thoughts:
tee sign missing on #4, pole missing on #7, pole missing on #8 (lost it this past winter), pole and tee signs missing for #9, tee sign missing on #11
