Pros:
A short 9 hole course located on the grounds of the Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy . When you pull into the lot to park ( please don't try to play when school is in session and during school hours ) , you will see a tee pad immediately to your left . That would be the tee pad to hole #8 . I will explain this later . Anyway , to get to the first tee pad , follow the cement walkway around the left of the school past the fenced in play area to the tee box to your left . You won't miss it . No map or kiosk exists for this course , but it's okay , because the course is so tight and short ( 1400' ) that all 9 holes fit in the back and to the side of the school . The tee pads are recently poured cement that are still wood lined , but thin and short . Maybe enough room for the kids that go to the school , and enough for me to throw stationary because I think the longest hole was marked at 226' , which is 50' longer than the next longest hole . The signage is good and descriptive , with hole number, picture and distance . and the baskets are brand new green podigy . They spared no expense putting in great equipment for this course . The course designer wasn't left with much to work with , given the area to work within . Still , the baskets were smartly placed behind trees , or hyzering over a windowless old greenhouse , like on #9 . I am treating it like it is presented , a fun little intro course , designed for the kids at the school or playing after dinner with the family , or newbies hoping to score their first ace . When I played , there was no one around . The course plays fast . You can finish a round by yourself in 15-20 minutes . If I lived in the neighborhood and didn't feel like driving the 2 miles to Morningside , I would come up here and work on my approach and putting game . I can see where excited youngsters would take a disc and throw with their classmates or some of their neighborhood friends just to see who can get closest to the pin . A unique and great feature on this course : a wooden hutch that looks like an oversized birdhouse sits next to #1's tee . Encased in glass sits a bunch of used discs for kids that don't have a disc of their own to borrow for a round . WOW . Nice touch .
Cons:
Being the first reviewer and taking it for what it is , a brand new course for the neighborhood and the elementary school kids , I don't have much in the way of cons . Really the only thing I have is that the tee pads and fairways are so stacked up against each other , that newbies and excited kids are liable to clobber each other with their drives if the course has more than a few active pads at a time . Especially if wind is involved .
Other Thoughts:
I have to commend Sarah Moore Greene School for putting in this course . Short as it is , it has a clear objective . To give the kids some outdoor interests and exercise that remove them from their cell phones and computers , The mere excitement of these kids trying to outdo each other while going from hole to hole will make it worth installing this course . .Disc golf is on the rise and this school in now a player . More seasoned players can just roll down the road to Morningside which is 5 minutes away . If I had kids and lived here , I would bring them here a lot . Thank You Sarah Moore Green School for promoting disc golf in the area .
